Great message...when receiving the opportunuty to hear a sermon... First take the log from your own eye and apply what you hear to your own life first.

I think you’ve hit the nail on the head. I think Paul is refuting some intricate arguments by the Jewish converts that by I believing Paul’s teaching of Christ alone; faith alone, that they were somehow saying that Christ becomes a servant of Sin..(Rubbish!)

I appreciate the exegesis! As I was studying out this passage, I was getting the same thing you got, starting from the context of him, rebuking Peter earlier in the chapter. Bible teacher told me that this verse means we become sinners again when we sin against God. And I flat out disagreed with them.

The bigger allegory is that its not about bloodlines but of the spirit. As Romans 1:3-4 says about Jesus. The seed of the woman means of a gentile mother. A gentile bride is counted for the seed. We are conceived of incorruptible seed of the Father and are the firstborn or firstfruits of the spirit. revelation 21:7.

Torah can not save, justify or make us righteous, but after we are saved by grace through faith in Messiah Yahusha, the Ruaḥ ha'Qodesh (Holy Spirit) convicts us and leads us to be obedient to His Torah (instructions). Then when we fall short we have Messiah to intercede on our behalf! It is a fine line, hence the narrow path ❤

Is living in the law just as similar as some set of regulations that one need to abide to live well in a society ? If you break the rule, face the penalty ? Is that what Galatians 3:12 simply mean ? "Who does these things shall live by them"?
@westviewchurchmn

Thanks for commenting and asking the questions. Paul's point is similar to a set of regulations needed to live in a just and peaceful society, but his main focus is how his theological opponents were promoting a position that one must keep the Old Testament Law (Exodus through Deuteronomy) in order to be righteous before God. That isn't possible as Paul makes plain in Galatians 3:11, "No one is justified [made righteous] before God by the law." Your second question is close to Paul's point-if you break the Law of God, you will face the penalty. If you keep perfectly keep the entire Law, you will live. However, none of us can do the latter and all do the former. This is why we need Jesus to be our perfect substitute.

There was two Laws The Ten commandments placed inside the ark The laws of Moses were placed on the outside of the ark . The law of Moses was ADDED because of transgression of the Ten commandments! Because the laws of Moses a lamb was slain for transgression of the Ten commandments ! JESUS the seed was the LAMB of GOD slain for transgression !! The law that was added is NOT required because JESUS fulfilled it ! The TEN COMMANDMENTS is written on out hearts and we OBEY because we LOVE JESUS ! Not in order to be save BUT because we are saved ! Rev says Blessed are they that obey the Ten Commandments ! They have a RIGHT to enter through the gates !

During the time of Moses, the works of the law should be followed because there’s no law of faith yet. At that time, following the works of the law is righteous. But not after Jesus taught us the gospel or the law of faith. Gal 3:24 Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith. 25 But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster. 26 For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. The role of the law of Moses is to bring us to Christ, so that we will be justified by the law of faith. But now that the law of faith is come, we no longer have to follow the law of Moses. Titus 3:5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; “WHICH WE HAVE DONE” not the righteousness which we have done which is the law of Moses.

For all who rely on the works of the law (law of Moses) are under a curse because the law of faith is already introduced by Jesus Christ. Even if they follow all in the works of the law. They won’t be justify there. and by him every one that believeth is justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses. -Acts 13 : 39 On the second sentence, it says “BOOK OF THE LAW”. those who do not abide by the book of the law (law of faith)(the new law)(gospel of Christ) be cursed. “And do them” means it should be done or followed, the book of the law

Hi Jenner, I appreciate you watching and commenting, however I am not fully tracking with your comments. I think we are getting at the same idea. We are justified by faith in Christ alone and not by our works. Let me know if you have a specific question. --Brett

@Westview Church. Question. You say we are not justified by our works, but by faith. If that is so, what happens to people who doesn’t have faith in God (other religions, atheist, etc) but are good people, and by heart doing the good works of the gospel of Christ. Will they be saved or not?

@@jennernolast6858 All humanity since Adam deserves the due penalty for sin: death. That death is not just physical but spiritual. I deserve God's just, eternal, conscious punishment. Apart from God's saving work in Christ, that is what we all deserve. It is an unfathomable mercy that any would be saved from the wrath to come. Apart from Jesus saving us by grace through faith, we have no hope. Any morally good thing we do is a common grace but has no merit before God if it is not done by faith in Christ (see Romans 8:8, 14:23).

In KJV and American standard version, it’s HEARING OF FAITH, not “hearing with faith”. Is there a difference? When reading Paul’s epistles, you have to consider something whenever he mention FAITH. in Romans 3:28 it says “therefore we conclude that a man is justified by FAITH without the deeds of the law. What does faith mean? Is it our belief? No. Paul is referring to “THE LAW OF FAITH”. This can be found in the verse before that. In Romans 3:27 Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith. 28 Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law. If you notice, Paul used “FAITH” but he is referring to law of faith in 27 and comparing it to LAW OF WORKS/works of the law/deeds of the law. You can link this to Ephesians 2:8-10. We don’t need the law of works (law of Moses). What we need to follow is The LAW OF FAITH or law of Jesus Christ (also found in gal 6:2) In Galatians 3, it’s saying the same thing. Law of works and law of faith. And in gal 3:11 But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith. Live by faith or law of faith because we will not be justified in the law of works (also found in acts 13:39) Then you can follow with: Gal 3:24 Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith. 25 But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster. 26 For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. THE LAW is the law of Moses or law of works. When Jesus came and taught the law of faith, we are. I longer under the law of works/Moses.

Hi Jenner, Thanks for watching and commenting. I don’t think their is a substantive difference between the KJV/ASV translation and the ESV of “hearing with/of faith.” They both convey Paul’s point that it isn’t just merely listening to the message of the gospel but responding with faith. Romans 3 is a helpful cross-reference. Faith certainly is our belief, our trust, our dependence on God and his promises. Paul is making the same point in Romans 3 and Galatians 3: it is nothing that we do-whether adhering to the Old Testament law or any present day iteration of requirements to be a “true Christian”-we do nothing to add to our righteous standing before God. We are made righteous by Christ alone. This is the “law of faith,” per Paul’s explanation in Romans 3:28, “one is justified [made righteous] by faith apart from works of the law.” However, doing away with the law does not mean Christians need only believe the gospel and go on living however they want. A person transformed by the work of Christ will grow in Christ-likeness, will walk in obedience to the Lord Jesus. This is the “law of Christ”-Christians learn to obey all that Jesus taught (cf. Matthew 28:20), governed by selfless love (the first half of Galatians 6:2). Thanks for engaging on this passage! -Brett

@Westview Church acts 13:39 And by him all that believe are justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses. We have to follow the law of Christ and not the law of Moses. Why? Because we will not be justified by the law of works. What will justify us is the law of faith. To prove that: Titus 3:5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; It’s saying in Titus that the works of righteousness (law of works) is no longer necessary. Sorry, I’m using phone. Hard to type and read.

@Westview Church . hearing with faith vs hearing of faith. I think there’s a difference. If faith in Galatians is Law of Faith, the it will become hearing with law of faith vs hearing of the law of faith. What do you think? I think Galatians 3 is about Paul comparing the Old Testament (works of the law) and New Testament (law of faith)
