Sorry for the late reply. We have a stage box video coming soon. If you're using the 32ch in 16 out stage box, then it will be plug and play. If your using the 16in 8out version, then you have to tell it to either be 1-8 out put to 9-16. On the Behringer version, believe you hold setup and turn the knob and you'll see "1-8" or "9-16" pop up. Your style of mixing is up to you. Usually different ways of routing things are for different standards scenarios but technically, No. You do not need to use 7&8 or your L&R. I tend to run Matrix, which are still fed off the L&R. The way I program is: If I have ground support mains left and right, I run them output 1 & 2 from Matrix 1 & 2. Then if I have center fills I run them from output 3 and Matrix 3, all off the Main LR. Although If I was running a concert venue. I would probably run the mains from a matrix still but from channels 7&8 or 15&16 if you have the full stage box or console. Then run the monitors for the musicians off outputs 1-4 via the bus sends. I hope this helps
