It's funny how the majority of the gaming community and even some other game developers made fun of the "robot dinosaur game" back when it was first revealed. Then the game went on and delivered one of the most incredible stories in the gaming history, with an even better sequence after.

A lot of people don't realize. Herres is partly responsible for the Faro Plague. He was joint chief of staff of Robot command at the time and would have been responsible for procurement contracts with Faro. He would have been the person funding Faro and his research. Without Herres, there very likely wouldn't have been a Faro Plague. Which is why he feels so much guilt, I think. Enduring Victory was a horrible, heinous lie, but it was necessary. But what came before? What led to the Faro Plague, Herres's hand in the development and proliferation of combat robotics? That's unforgiveable.

You're right about general Herris because he admits to everything that he's done unlike Ted Fero he purged the apollo records.

we need to make GAIA for real, not because earth on life is in imitate danger of dying out, but because WITH GAIA we can build a Terraforming system just like the game, launch in into space and bring life, human life to the billions of worlds out there in the habital zones of their stars that, as far as we can tell, have no life at all. Preventing the extinction of our species from ever occurring. We know that Humans will NEVER visit other solar systems without building generational space ships, something we just do not have the technology to do right now. and FTL travel is currently well beyond our understanding. But a Million Year ARK ran by an AI with all the Genetic material frozen in stasis with the Technology we have now, and the ability to mine and manufacture Everything it needs to recreate not just life, but technology and habitats would ensure that even if we wiped ourselves out on earth with our stupid wars and obsession with Greed (having more then ANYONE else) or the negligence we show to the dangers of space rocks and pollution. at least something of us survives with the chance to continue!

It annoys me that the devs gave Gaia's codebreaking subfunction the roman name when every other the Greek name. Also I think it should have been called Hermes, and the knowledge one called Athena.

But the show has to end with *1000 years later* "Elizabet. This message is to inform you of an unforseen and catastrophic anomaly" as we see Rost journeying with the infant aloy on their way to the naming ritual. The final shot is Rost rasing her up lion king style and shouting her name to the mountains. "In you, all things are possible"

The whole of human knowledge, history, culture, reduced to four words. “Alert! Malfunction: APOLLO offline.” That’s nightmare fuel in and of itself. It’s a wonder that humanity didn’t go extinct a second time with their first winter, being released into the wild with nothing beyond a kindergarten education. It strains credulity that they’re advanced enough to build a place like Meridian.

This game is magnificent. I love speculative science fiction. This specific speech given by Dr. Sobeck thrilled me. Horizon Zero Dawn will always have a special place among the games I had the opportunity to play. Too bad the sequel, Forbidden West, couldn't have the same writing quality as the first. A great game, addictive, but left something to be desired in this regard.

The sad part is... the player can kind of see Susanne Alpert's point of view. To her, Zero Dawn appeared to be an impossible dream on top of a living nightmare and the only 'carrot' was getting to stay alive long enough to watch everything else around humanity die, only to die later with a bunch of strangers cowering in some hole. In the face of all that, someone would have to believe in Dr. Sobek, believe in Zero Dawn, believe in the team you haven't even met yet. All the while, the world goes to hell and no one can stop it.
Herres wanted his sins, necessary though they were, documented and known. I think he'd be fine knowing he was cursed by future humans, since that meant humanity was back again, and the price for that had been, among countless other things, his soul. He knows that this is necessary, that he will burn if there is a hell, and he does not shirk his legacy being untold oceans of blood to buy a chance for a future no one alive at the time of recording could ever see. I respect that, and I would never want to be in anything approaching this position.
@eevee-wg7vm Жыл бұрын
General Herris recorded an audio message he intended to be heard by anyone who found it in the new world he hoped Zero Dawn would create. In this message, he took full responsibility for the millions of civilians and military personnel worldwide who sacrificed themselves as part of Enduring Victory solely due to the lies he had disseminated to the world about Zero Dawn. Though the global population had certainly been doomed and therefore its sacrifice at least served a vital purpose, he was anguished over his part in it because he was nothing like Ted Faro.
