Interesting thought, but Ben Cooper clearly beat him in this matchup,

James Arness had to turn around, Michael Landon was facing his target... so, James Arness would have been faster had he been facing his target as well.

well this was the best draw of his I found that wasn’t edited. if you can find a faster one, post a link and I’ll match him up against Michael Landon again and post a link here for you.

Audie beat them all except Michael Landon, which was a tie. There is a story I read years ago that in the 1950's, a certain western actor claimed to be the fastest draw in Hollywood, and challenged all the other actors to a gun fight, to prove it. The only one to accept was Audie Murphy, who said; " I'll do it, as long as we use real bullets." The other guy backed down!
@WesternFastDrawКүн бұрын
@@gragrn yeah. It was Hugh O’Brian. Hugh kept pestering Audie and He kept declining, finally he got tired of the pestering and said ok as long as we use live ammo. The final part of the story was that some stuntmen friends of Ben Cooper got together the money for the bet and told Hugh that Ben would accept. They never heard back from Hugh. He was a smart man.

Scott fired first, but Glenn was considered one of the fastest guns in Hollywood, and that particular scene where he hits the two coins in the air isn't the best representation of his speed, because he aims after drawing his gun. A better scene to use would be where he shoots the dropped bottle.
