Wot a great final that was. 2 great players in their prime. It's a shame one of them had to Lose it.

O'Sullivan couldn't have played any better, and he lost by 4 points. To this day, dunno how Higgins managed to win this lol

John higgins is an awesome player BUT i can't get over the fact he wanted to cheat. He only didn't do it because he got caught before doing it. Still doesn't make it right. The intention was definitely there for all to see
@MrGloryglorymanutd182 жыл бұрын
Out of the 4 Major's finals these two players have played o Sullivan won 2 by alot and the world final they played by 4 and this was the only close one but Higgins had to pull of what is considered his best clearence of his career to just win 1 against Ronnie.

Remember watching this in my local 15 years ago, I still think these pair reached levels nobody else could touch from around 2000-2010. I remember my heart sinking when higgins got that double at the end, because i knew it was over, what a clearance.

Williams in 2003 reached a very high level imo.. probably the highest of that decade. Hendry in patches of 02 and 03 too
@FleetAdmiral8338 ай бұрын
@@sugs1191agreed, williams of 2003 reached the highest heights ever in the game imo, even above Hendry of mid 90s and Ronnie 2008-12.

So from this video, is it fair to say that peak John Higgins > peak Ronnie O'Sullivan?
@alanunaiomen53062 жыл бұрын
If you think it works that way, then it's not a good image for you.
@Ganstaz0032 жыл бұрын
@@alanunaiomen5306 I asked a question. And it does seem true, Ronnie requires John to be below his best to beat him. Whenever John is playing his best or both are playing their best, John always seems to beat him. This match is evidence and so is their most recent masters match.
@alanunaiomen53062 жыл бұрын
@@Ganstaz003 Again it doesn't work that way. Why you assume Ronnie played his best this game? Maybe this was Higgins' best play vs Ronnie's worst, and it still was very close in the end. Of course that's not true, but I just showed you how you can interpret such a thing to fit your narative. John Higgins is a legend of the game and a great player himself. I would rank him 3-5 after O'Sullivan and Hendry. Peak Ronnie is also not a time period necesarry, as people who have watched snooker for years know that Ronnie unfortunately hasn't been the most profesional player, especially in the 2000s. And as you probably know by now, Ronnie at his best is a beast, he just gives you no chance. When in a sport like tennis let's say, number 100 in the world beats number 3 in the world. Do you then think that number 100 in the world at his best is better than number 3? Or a small team from second division beats a team from first division. Does it mean that team is better? Of course not. Teams/people have bad days. Their oponents have good days. You can't just see a match and decide after just a match who the better player is. Form is also an extremely important thing. Fluke/luck plays a part as well in snooker, soccer, etc. Even in chess it can play a part.. if you are unlucky enough to enter a line that your opponent has prepared very well (and this things do happen sometimes). Also you have to look at someone career, trophies, direct results etc. but in the long run. English is not my first language so I am sorry for the mistakes i've made or if this is hard to understand because how i phrased it, but i hope you get it.
