I bought your Schubertiade recording when I was a teenager. I practically wore out the record. In the 80s, I replaced it with the CD. It is my desert island disc.

Mondnacht en Auf der Berg worden magnifiek gezongen door Elly met haar stralende stem!

How do you make German sound colorful and not ugly? I noticed that as important as clear vowels are, singers also have to learn to transition between different vowels without altering production. I would love if you would make a video explaining your voice. It's range, where the colors change, etc. What led you to the repertoire you excelled in.

Ah, Munchinger's St John Passion! That's what I remember.

I saw you perform Les Nuits D'Ete with the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra. Much later, I discovered there was a harp part, and they were too cheap to hire the harpist for the concert, which was outrageous of them. I'm sorry you couldn't make them hire someone. They had a regular person they used.

Schumann was such a genius!! I love him almost as much as Brahms. Thanks for a wonderful lesson.

My life would be impossible without Brahms. And he is so underrated as a composer of songs. Miss Ameling, you are my favorite female singer. I can’t tell you the pleasure you have brought me over the last 50 years. Thank you.

Such sounds from a human!!! And, you taught me so many wonderful things. Still, I can hear and see you- we were working the Muhvoll of Wolf, and you were wanting me to "pull it through the nose". I went to an F# and you walked toward my face singing that pitch!!! It was difficult to continue on my pitch because here was Elly Ameling in my face with a perfect, angel F#!!! I will never forget!!!

Who is the artist you mentioned can do anything here?

Obviously, Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau. Schwarzkopf once said, 'He is God. He can do anything.'

Meine absolute Lieblings-CD „Mozart-Lieder und Notturni“. Für mich steht fest: Mozart-Lieder NUR mit Elly Ameling! 👍🏻 Einfach himmlisch! 😇🎼 Ich höre die Musik unter anderem im Auto hoch und runter. Damals nahm ich Unterricht im klassischen Gesang und habe von Ihnen erfahren.

What a find! Just as was hearing you for the first time on LP. I was staggered. What a generous act on your part to share your significant “take” on these lieder, similar to that heard in your recorded interpretations. It was my fortune to hear you LIVE in NYC twice. Thank you, Elly (may I?). I shall listen oh so carefully.

How wonderful it is to find you here! When I was a voice student in Chicago decades ago, I listened to your recordings constantly and I learned so much about singing from you. I have had the pure joy of sharing your recordings with my students over the years. Thank you so much for such beauty! Good health and many blessings to you!

I am a pianist who has spent 46 years performing and teaching at the Interlochen Arts Academy in Michigan, USA. With my teacher Lucien Hut a graduate of the Rotterdam Conservatory, we heard a recital by an upcoming bass in 1970. You were in attendance and I was introduced to you after the program. I had followed your recordings and was inspired to meet you--my lieder soprano idol. For all these years, I have always returned to music by Schubert and in fact, have recorded two CDs of his piano music, always inspired by your artistic voice. Just now I listened to your KZbin talk about Schumann's " In der Fremde" and was moved to possibly tell you how you influenced my musical life. I am now retired at age 73 and am devoted to the music of Bach, Schubert, Schumann, and Brahms. Thank you for your "muses about "Liederkris." michaelcoonrod.net
