Obviously a Republican. Didn’t realise until l listened to this broadcast. Part of his charm was that he always appeared none political. He comes across as pretty right wing here.

Mr. Cooke's eloquent statements here stand as one of the best, most sober-minded appraisals of my nation's obscene and continuing gun violence problem. How I wish sensible minds back then had prevailed in the halls of government with the result that there was now such a thing as effective American gun control rather than the present dismal state of affairs with regular mass shootings, attempted assassinations, and inner-city gun battles!

I think some people on here don't understand this interview - Richard was playing up to Alan, and being the usual BBC interviewer in style. I think a lot of people on here have missed the joke.

Richard gets a bit big for his boots here. The 'youngster ' needs to be put back in his place...at least when talking to a fictional ledge

I wish this interview had been much longer. I read Queenan’s second book back in the 90s. It was a hoot, especially the chapter about being Mickey Rourke for a day. I liked everything he said in this short interview.

I keep coming back to Dave Allen. What an exceptional man he was. May he rest in peace, having helped to make the world a better place. Thank you so much for this video.

It makes me laugh that the author of he's own books doesn't know when he wrote them. Casino Royale was written in 1952 and published in 1953 . You can forgive him for not remembering that he got married in 1952 and wrote the book to take he's mind of getting married..

‘The second film (From Russia with Love) is now in production…and should be as much of a success as the first (Dr No)...’ In fact, it was far more successful, garnering praise from critics, breaking box-office records and playing to packed houses nationwide. The most popular movie in Britain in 1963 it is generally considered one of the finest Bond films…

People like Jean Seberg and Romain Gary live on their own terms but have a big psychological problem when their behavior deprives them of being a center of attention, of understanding, of not being liked or loved, or being accused of being something that their behavior portrayed them to be. Jean was a victim of her own making because she was unable to accept and deal with how her behavior could destroy her life. Gary was a novelist and it was so much more dramatic to say the article brought on miscarriage rather than the truth that her drug abuse did. When Gary himself killed himself sixteen months after Jean his suicide note said it had no relation to Seberg's suicide. Many consider this his novelist's admission in the form of a denial.

Isn't it lovely how going to Eton gets you into jobs anywhere you fancy... reads like Boris Johnson's easy ride. I notice he didn't mention that 'Mumma' rang her friend Churchill to get him a nice senior job in the Admiralty .... Another thing he got wrong... the honey he said JB had in his breakfast rotation doesn't seem to have even been sold. The little scarlet jam and marmalade are still available excusing the name change on the correct marmalade.
