Thanks for sharing this for others to see. That is the right culture! It’s a stupid mistake (like most mistakes really) but easy to determine that after the fact. You’ve solved the situation well. Build up your ego again and keep flying!

Your airspeed indicator seems really... weird. 0 is at the 7:30 position? And I've never seen a red arc, usually it's just a red line to indicate Vne, but it also seems to be wrap around but there isn't a second set of speeds?

I'd do it as a soloed student pilot in a 2-33...lots more shuddering and wind noise though:-).

maybe this can be a wake up call to get some (more?) instruction in a two seater. your stick movements during the aerobatics looked very "choppy" (not smooth and precise). that's not how a competent and proficient pilot flies. if you can't fly aerobatics precisely and stay ahead of the airplane at all times, then don't do it. there's no shame in that. getting your privileges suspended probably sucks, but it seems like a good lesson. good job not trying to return to the airfield and choosing a safe outlanding though.

Making the embarrassing decision to land out in plenty of time, seems like a great mindset to me. Plenty have done this and tried to stretch a glide and it ends in disaster.

I did my 1st sideslip on an approach having had only 10 hours. I had read about it the night before. Piece of cake. Scared the crap out of my instructor, though. "Don't do shit like that without telling me first,." he shouted.

Risky. You pitched up a lot there, if you stalled or worse spun, it could have ended badly. Leave the gear up if you’re that late I. The circuit. A good wheels up landing is better than a crash.

Can you fit a system to warn you to deploy your landing gear when you descend below certain height?
@Thomipangang

Yes you can. It’s pretty much standerd on the newer gliders. Unless the cockpit is fully analog of course…

@@Harm10412not necessarily… the LX has its stall warning once the GS goes below a certain speed. One could program the same for Altitude AGL. However this isn’t really suitable for Flying in the alps, I admit😅

Nice slip, though this is not a side slip, it is a forward slip. In a side slip, the glider's nose is kept aligned with the runway all along the approach despite sidewind.

in gliding it is called a side slip.
@paquettel

@@eckiger_luki6424 You can call it a slide slip if you want, but that's a mistake. The detailed explanation in the following link, page 26. www.faa.gov/sites/faa.gov/files/regulations_policies/handbooks_manuals/aviation/glider_handbook/gfh_ch07.pdf

@@eckiger_luki6424 Actually, it's not. Side slip is when you want to counter side wind without crabbing. What is shown in this video is a forward slip (also called control crossing), where you use yaw to present the size of the fuselage to the oncoming air to increase the drag, and then slip in the opposite direction to maintain course.
