Freos defence is elite they were 3rd in points concided. Ryan was an All Australian, and Clark was in the AA team of 44. Pearce was in AA form before injury, and Cox is a good intercepting defender, and then there's Josh Draper and Hugh Davies as young key defenders. Their main needs are small forward and a big bodied midfielder and an elite kick of half back.

There were a few factors that were obvious I believe, and it came out to be true…. I believe the lions were game hardened to the lead up to the granny. War hardened they call it, and Sydney having the easier run plus the week off never helped their cause because they lacked game time in their legs….nothing to do with being fit, it’s to have the game time in their system. The other glaring factor is Sydney played the short game on the MCG and that in itself is like playing Russian roulette. Doesn’t work and never will. They took their Sydney cricket ground game plan to the MCG…..it fails everytime, and will continue to do so until they have a plan for the bigger ground.
