To be fair he did kick it towards the boundary rather than centering it. His intent was to kick it to space and that space was towards the boundary. Not too much of a controversial decision and the decision does have merit.

Those free kicks happen all the time, but apparently it’s all Hawthorns fault. The meme #FreeKickHawthorn happened 5 years ago, and people are still saying it. We never get free kicks. Get over it.
