As others have said, great film. Also, a great tribute to one of the most phenomenal courses in GB. It's high up in my bucket list courses to play.

It is a fabulous course, the greens are an absolute joy which makes each hole incredibly fun to play because it is about reaching the green, then the fun of putting begins! The Green fees are eye watering nowadays though.

Continentals tend to use cold ham for b'fast not bacon. Hence your choices were limited. Rather than put knobs of (M & S) butter in the ramekins a quick smearing would suffice.

What a beautiful campsite to end the day at.

Lots of seaside places like Alesund in Norway, Kristiansand and Arendal in the South are beautiful with restaurants in the harbour. The same goes for Haugesund half way between Stavanger and Bergen.

If you could do Norway again would you have spent more time in the North or the South?
@linksfromtheroad2 ай бұрын
I think around the Southwest our personal favourite. Oslo’s a beautiful city and then driving west from there towards Stavanger, Bergen, Alesund and Trondheim all worth exploring. The drive between Trondheim and Lofoten is a long one, but worth it when you get there. I’m glad we spent a good amount of time exploring the Fjords and those cities though - you’ll have a wonderful time if you go!

@@linksfromtheroad I am flying out on Sunday. I land in Bergen, I’ll grab a rental car, and start driving. I don’t have any plans!

Have never been to Stavanger in summer, mostly been when the heaters have been on and blankets provided outside the bars/restaurants. Recognised some of the places from previous visits.

As a fellow dog owner (x2), a golf nut, and a lover of great road journeys, I am deeply envious but also thankful for these daily updates from you both. Very enjoyable mood set by you Sam on all of the vlogs. What a stunning day you got to play Lofoten. Maybe one day I will get to play there.......

Thanks for such a nice comment. The videos are rather more work than I’d like at the end of a long day so appreciate your kind comments. Worth it to look back on what’s turning out to be a wonderful adventure. Glad to hear from another dog, golf and road trip nut. Another couple of weeks of this particular trip still to go. Got to get home somehow…!

@@linksfromtheroad Had originally posted halfway through the video, so it was fascinating to hear your honest views of the course on the 18th. Having watched the NoLayingUp guys previously, and saw their very positive views, it is great to get an alternative take. Maybe I stick to Shiskine, Cullen, Covesea etc.... courses so much closer to my home !!!.. Take care and I look forward to the remaining vlogs

@@RWLWRWit definitely deserves positive comment, but it is getting more expensive and better known each year. A double edged sword perhaps. Bigger green fees and presence will help it get better and better, but will leave less wiggle room for visitors with sky-high expectations. It’s a remarkable place though, that’s for sure.

It's tricky to find the the tee for the 8th hole the first time you play it. I think you played it from the 9th tee.. As I remember it the 8th is ca 100 meters.

I have been lucky enough to visit some of the best links courses in the UK. I would rank RCP in the very top bracket. Course design, architecture, and condition are absolutely second to none IMO. It is a brute of a course and makes the Old course look like a pussy cat in terms of difficulty. A must play in my book.
