Bruce, please do not ever remove these wonderful PP videos you have posted. Thank you most deeply. There is very little if her on YT and your 2 "PP talking to a college class" are the very best.

Peace Pilgrim is one of the few people I truly admire. She died on my birthday, July 7. Personally, I don't believe that a world totally without war and conflict is impossible. But I admire her so much for her dedication.

all religious and spiritual people should go on a pilgrimage. I don't know how. It seems our modern times have made pilgrimages watered down or obsolete

Why did the Universe take her away so soon? She could have easily gone another ten, maybe twenty years. 1981 was the start when the world seems to have gone in reverse. Is there anybody else out there that anybody knows of who is currently walking the earth as evolved as Peace was when she walked the earth.

I found her book and some thrift shop and I'm so glad I read it about 10 years ago and upon re-reading it I thought to myself let me check KZbin. A lot of the things in the book are straight out of this lecture probably but it's so good to hear it through her voice

This woman is so much more than what meets the eye. A true Saint and an enlightened being. A hero to me and others.

Try to grasp the enormity of this woman and her message...walking alone...no money...no possessions (not even a hat, a tent or a water bottle)...walking until given shelter...fasting until given food....for years and years. Peace Pilgrim was indeed a living saint with a vital message for human kind...seek peace...foster peace...love one another and indeed all living beings.

Hello! I used the Wayback machine to see how KZbin was in 2005. I saw a comment of yours on a video called why walk 1000 miles. I wondered of you were even active now.

It is a little known fact that Peace Pilgrim was the first woman to thru-hike the entire Appalachian Trail in one season (1952). The Appalachian Trail Hall Of Fame only recently publically celebrated her achievement in 2017. Back in the early 1950s, her hike was controversial because she announced openly that she did the Trail with her "gentleman friend", and they were unmarried at the time. This was thought to be unsupportable, so the ATC pretty much ignored her accomplishment, and instead highly publicized Grandma Gatewood's (also amazing) later hike, being careful to point out that Grandma Gatewood''s was the first SOLO woman's thru-hike. thetrek.co/appalachian-trail/who-was-the-first-female-thru-hiker/

Did she really go without eating, sleeping and bathing for long stretches of time? Not sure how she could cope with that lifestyle.
@alangordon28314 жыл бұрын
I'm wondering the same thing. If I were there I would ask her if she walked on Highways or expressways with the big semis and where often pedestrians are either illegal or scarcely tolerated. She must have washed her clothes occasionally, and how many pairs of shoes did she wear out??
@alladreamwedreamed3 жыл бұрын
She addressed all these topics in her writings and lectures over her lifetime. She said that truly she never starved, food was always offered, and that she found she didn't need much food because she always had high energy from being in constant prayer. If she wasn't offered lodging then she would just look for a bench or sleep under a tree. She did replace her shoes and outfit when they became worn or tattered. I would assume she did laundry at some of the homes she took shelter at. She carried a toothbrush, comb and chapstick in her tunic pocket.

It's pretty obvious by listening to this incredible woman that she had no trouble getting what she needed to survive out there. Lack was not in her vocabulary! Doing what she was called to do

@@peacelovejoy8786 I certainly can’t imagine living that way and feeling confident that people would assist me when I needed food, shelter and other things. You see, I’m really not a very likeable individual. 😢
