Good job. A lot like Emmet Lundy, but not exactly. Not many people know about Emmet Lundy but it would be good if you looked him up

His recording is right here on KZbin. He uses slides and double stops and the resonance of a lower string. Some people like me can’t do exactly what he does but it’s a worthy goal to try to capture the sounds produced by the old geezers.

Why do you credit this to French Carpenter? I can't find any recording of him playing a version that sounds remotely like this. The 1963 recording that you seem to reference is on KZbin, but it is not this tune (kzbin.info/www/bejne/mpKolKhqat5np6M). Can you offer any further details on the source? We play this and want to find out where it is from. Thank you!

OUTSTANDING lesson, Dakota! Do you have a white noise machine in your studio? (There's a "hum" in the background that's a bit distracting...) But the lesson is outstanding. You are a gifted teacher! Thanks!

Nice lesson, and I enjoy your channel. Just one suggestion: change your mic placement, or add a lavalier mic, to bring your speaking into balance with the volume of your fiddle. It would definitely improve the audio quality of your videos. Thanks for posting these!

Thanks Pete! Good suggestion. I am definitely looking into options for creating a better balance to the audio on these videos. Hopefully you will see improvement on some of my future releases!

Thanks for the droning explanation - open A with A on the D string. Katy Adelson puts this drone in Cold & Frosty Morning.

Beautiful song. So many fiddlers have a really scratchy sound, but you really make the instrument sing.

i learned something new today. also, playing the violin is like golfing, it looks sorta easy, but it is not.

Glad this was helpful to you! I'm not a golfer myself, but I've also hear the comparison to golf in regards to it be something you never stop learning. :)
