Flesh and Blood Thomas the Apostle was not a doubter. He didn’t doubt the resurrection of Jesus-he fully rejected it until he could have physical proof. Thomas doubles down on his insistence for proof with the passage most of us are familiar with. “Unless I see in his hands the print of the nails, and place my finger in the mark of the nails, and place my hand in his side, I will not believe” (Jn. 20:25)[7] Thus, Thomas makes his own individual test, his personal direct seeing of the visible marks of the crucifixion and even the touching of these marks, the absolute condition and the non-negotiable term for believing. Any other evidence is inadmissible. When a doctor removes dead or unhealthy tissue from a wound, it's called debridement. Doctors do this to help a wound heal. Somewhere between the years 2000 to 2001 surgeon Dr. Jason Keith removed dead, unhealthy tissue from the lower right hip (where the hip meets the top of the leg) area curving back to the vaginal area of my wife Lori Fuller. The Flesh and blood removed from her to save her life is beyond my comprehension. She had contracted Necrotizing fasciitis, a flesh-eating bacteria. The surgery left her permanently disabled for the rest of her life until the very day she passed away in January 2015. As Lori's husband, this thrust me into becoming her caretaker, the major income winner, chief, cook, and bottle washer. The absolute hardest days I have ever faced were during this period. The weight of pulling myself and my beloved wife forward one inch at a time was more than I felt like I could ever have upon me. The anger I had with God was more immense than I have words for. "Where are you GOD??!!" echoed in my soul more often than I was willing to admit to others. I felt like I knew EXACTLY why Thomas insisted on physical proof. I honestly have no idea how many hours of time Thomas had the privilege of being with Jesus physically, and what impact Jesus had already made in the life of Thomas. But Thomas demanded God make himself REAL to him despite being a disciple of Christ. I accepted Jesus as my personal savior when I was 16. I have no personal count of the time, hours, minutes, hours, days, weeks, months, or years I had spent seeking God out in his word, my mind, my heart, and in my life. Hubris, anger, rage, and a myriad of self-centered sins festered inside of me. "Why God?" "Where are you God?", and (the biggest one) "Why does Lori have to suffer so much??!!??" were eating me up from inside at a faster and (and some could make the argument) deadlier speed than the very flesh-eating bacteria that overtook Lori in the first place. Not only had I become Thomas, but I had become the prodigal son in my own way. At the risk of upsetting friends with this statement, God finally made himself real to me and proivided the evidence I was demanding when Lori passed away. The confidence I had that Lori was now free of all the things I was angry about passed over me like a tidal wave. My heart was broken into a million pieces but the confidence God gave me is beyond any words I can give. Like Thomas exclaims: (John 20:28) My Lord My God! and like the prodigal son being embraced by his father after being lost I came to a personal place with God that started a whole new chapter of blessing in my life. I now know with great certainty, God wants to be very REAL to you. He wants to become flesh and blood to you. He wants to answer your questions, and he wants to provide evidence that He Is Risen!! and alive. "My Heart for You" the prodigal son project is worthy of your attention. Please take some time and allow the song, the video, and the truly crazy stories of how God has been involved with the creation of it from the very beginning to wash over you. I have known about the song, video, and project from the inside for quite a while. The song/Video is so powerful every time I encounter it.
