Thank you so much for this informative video. All though three years old, it’s completely relevant to me today as I’ve just purchased a 2020 Ioniq electric. It only has 20k miles an cost a fraction of the new price. I’m waiting for my home charger fitting but I’m coping with the 3 pin 240v charger at this time. Overnight I topped up from 60-100% at a cost of £1.44. I would love to know 3 years on from your video, did you have optimum minimum and maximum charging levels or did you just charge back to 100% from any lower levels? Kind regards Michael

@mikeschap1 Thanks for watching Michael. I no longer own the IONIQ, but I had both the 28kW Gen 1 and the Gen 2 39kW (seen in the video). Today my wife and I both have EVs; a Model 3 Dual Motor and a 52kW Zoe GT Line. Both cars are charged to 80% using my Tesla wallbox. When I owned the Hyundai's I charged to 80% whenever possible in order to preserve the life of the battery, and whilst I didn't have a scientific way of checking battery degradation, I did not see significant changes in range and battery consumption during the 20,000 miles I had mine. Hyundai have some of the best real-world battery systems out there but the Gen 2 IONIQ did suffer some issues with cell failure in the packs, and battery management glitches - a fault that saw many cars going back to retailers. To answer your question about charge limits, I have covered 35,000 miles in my Tesla in 2 years. I charged to 80% religiously as the range at the level is still plenty (270 miles), and in 2 years I have seen a 2% loss in battery capacity. Hope this helps. Enjoy your car!

Amazing video, I got lucky and got a 2018 LCI M2 two weeks ago and absolutely love it. I chose it over the m2c and they were the same price but the n55 won me over. Plus I’ll be making 500-550whp on 93 octane. Mines alpine white and I might just snag these m4 seats or a set of used m2c seats. Got the m2cs hood coming in and a full carbon aero kit. It’s gonna be a blast more than it already is. Mine also has the sunroof, mpe and m2cs front lip.

I love my Ioniq 28, it takes the stress out of driving and it's so cheap to run compared to the petrolcar. I get really good efficiency out of it (9-10 km/kwh in summer) and I drive with regeneration set at zero, which makes coasting a natural way of driving while planning ahead.

Great review! We bought a Twizy 3 months ago. My wife uses it for a daily 30km round commute and absolutely loves it. I'm always looking for an excuse to drive it too. The Twizy is super rare here in Cyprus so it draws a lot of attention (and offers to buy it). Ours was imported from Korea complete with windows like yours. We were looking for a name but there may a competition at my wife's school for the students to name it. Hopefully it won't end up being called Twizy McTwizface.

Do all twizys have UK style plugs for charging? Or different style plugs like fast charging for other locations
@CARfariPark Жыл бұрын
It will have the appropriate domestic plug for the country of sale. My UK car had a three-pin 13amp. There is no fast charging DC option on Twizy as the battery is so small. As I mentioned in the video, I had a third-party adapter that allowed the Twizy to be plugged into a Type 2 charge point, however, there are no benefits to the charge speed as the rate and speed is governed by the onboard charger.
@seandixon948 Жыл бұрын
@@CARfariPark so the type 2 charger is for charging at a public charge station?
@CARfariPark Жыл бұрын
@Sean Dixon Yes, Type 2 is generally the industry standard in the UK & Europe for AC charging. Having the adapter allows the Twizy to plug into one of the many 7KW public chargers - be mindful as I've already mentioned, the bigger public chargers will not increase charge times. The Twizy will still only draw the same rate that it was designed to pull when using a three-pin plug. The adapters are not a Renault part and would likely invalidate the warranty on the battery. My car was outside of warranty and I owned the battery. In reality, public charging with a Type 2 is only useful if you're leaving the car somewhere or you're prepared to wait 2-3hrs for a full charge. With energy prices at record highs, the Charge Point Operators are now charging for the slower 7KW charges, whereas when I owned my Twizy, they were free to use, which was convenient as I had access to one right next to my work office. I certainly wouldn't want to pay 30-40 pence per unit when the Twizy can be charged at home off-peak for so much less.

@@CARfariPark thanks boss. I bought one but it hasnt arrived yet. I didnt do the homework on it about charging. I thought charging ports on electric vehicles was universal. Im in jamaica and we use american standard electrical outlets (120VAC)and plugs in homes for appliances. So now i have 2 options. First is to replace the english standard plug with an american standard; try to get and install an english standard outlet for use. Which option would you suggest? Thanks for assistance bro

Great review - I’ve subscribed! A couple of questions please. What is the headroom in the Twizy front and back? I sat in an Ami passenger seat and found the roof strengthening bar was right where I needed to put my head! I’m 188cm tall, partner similar. And you mention no locks or heater. Is it easy to steal when parked? And how did you cope with windscreen misting without a heater, to say nothing about yourself?!
@CARfariPark2 жыл бұрын
Hi Peter, the headroom is good and at 5ft 11" tall myself there was still plenty of room for my wife in the back. Unlike the Ami, the Twizy benefits from a much higher top speed and more compact form. Storage space will be the challenge if you regularly carry a passenger. As for security, I fitted the plastic windows and used a steering wheel lock as an extra layer of security and visual deterrent. Back to creature comforts... there are none other than a quick-clear heated windscreen, so dimisting is easy but will drain range if you use it constantly in the winter. I used to plug the car into the mains before leaving home, switch on the Twizy's ignition and activate the heated screen in advance of leaving, just to save a little extra energy. I also found that after adding the new windows plus some beefier door seals I kept a lot of the rain and road elements out of the cabin which helped to keep it dry and damp free. Don't be under any illusion that the Twizy is a car - like the Ami, the Twizy is a quadricycle and therefore gets around the levels of safety and features required in a car. My best purchase for driving the Twizy in winter was battery powered heated gloves and a small fleece blanket for my legs. Despite all of the aforementioned, I absolutely loved the Twizy and was sad to see it go earlier in the year. It had to make way for a car with more range as I changed jobs. Best of luck if you go with one - lots of fun and a car that turns more heads than a Supercar.

Hi from the Netherlands. Great review indeed. We have the luxurity of owning two Twizy's, both bought second hand from an outdoor centre. I commuter in mine and my wife shares it with my son to use it to go to work and university. A lot of outsiders totally miss the concept, putting it down by it's lack of comfort, and the size which they regard as a danger on the road. I was relieved to see how you nailed the very concept of the vehicle. All true and really needed to be understood for wanting one. Cost wise and without depreciation our gross spending per Twizy is about €90,- a month, electricity included. What more advertising does it need! Oh, one thing: you missed the important and factory standard accessory called wind shield heating! Can't do without 😉
