Knowing the way he almost swindled himself into poverty, if these were mine I honestly wouldn't know what to do with them. Giving them to a museum is one thing, but selling to spend the profit of what I originally paid for them would feel (to/for me) like a further smack to his face. Whoever said it, said it well indeed ... "ignorance is bliss".

This owner didn’t swindle Louis Wain. His grandmother picked up a sketch which he inherited. That sketch inspired him to collect more of Wain’s art, and to learn about his life. He’s not some millionaire exploiting an employee. He obviously cares about the art and the idea of £30,000 is very exciting to him but he’s not planning to sell right away. I hope he held on til now, when that art will be much higher in value, so he can make his life and the lives of others easier. If he chooses to make a donation to a mental health advocacy group, that would be a lovely idea - but none of our business

Benedict Cumberbatch is coming out with a movie based on Louis Wain's life this year. Definitely plan on going to see it. 9/24/21

Marvellous piece of acting and in the end a heart-rending story. Like Beatrix Potter, Louis found love but was not long to enjoy it. His compulsive artistic output can be seen as a tribute to the absolute centrality of love to the human psyche.

The middle class has lost more under this asshole than at anytime in history. Obama=lower median household income. Remember, liberals slammed Bush's 2001 & 2003 tax rates and claim they only help the rich despite most knowing it cut rates across the board.

He campaigned talking about tax increases on "millionaires and billionaires". Now elected, and is actually looking to raise taxes on families earning $250K or more. Note to the president --- try being honest occasionally. It can go a long way in building some credibility with people that are actually paying attention. If your intent was to raise taxes at the $250K level, then you should have simply campaigned on that. (I suppose the sound bite wasn't quite as sexy; and you were only off by $7

Katherine, you're correct that he did not say "He needs a new car payment", but In the speech he did tell the man that he needed to buy a hybrid van... a man that has ten kids isn't going to be able to pay for a new hybrid van up front with cash. He would have to get a big car payment for a long time before he ever paid it off. and in the mean time, paying for gas

Obama made 1.7 million last year and only paid 27% in taxes, I make 1/15'th of that and pay 33%. Obama, "Do as I say not as I do." How about we stop worrying about what our neighbors make and worry about paying our own way. Now as to they way our neighbors are taxed, how about everyone pay 15-20% and no deductions for 1) working your butt off and becoming wealthy or 2) for sitting on you butt and doing the bare minimum? I have no problem paying into a safety net , not happy about the hammock.
