Lipstick looks great! The Ingrid sweater is on my radar but I’ve just started a Staffin so it will have to wait patiently. Would petersham ribbon help the opening of your Elizabeth blouse?
@KnitsFromLincolnshire2 күн бұрын
I’ve thought about ribbon and someone suggested needle felting but I’ve come to a conclusion that it should be worn open! The fabric just isn’t stiff enough to stand up. How are you getting on with Staffin? I have it in my library but haven’t opened it. I’ve heard that the patterns isn’t the easiest to follow… Xx
@carolinehannan39212 күн бұрын
That’s a very pragmatic approach! It’s a bit early to say about the Staffin pattern but I wouldn’t disagree so far. There was an issue with the size 5 chart (pattern repeat box missing) which Rebecca is correcting. Teething problem. Looking good so far.

I don’t know what is happening with KZbin at the moment (at least in Australia where I am viewing from), but the current number and frequency of ads make your videos too frustrating to watch 😢

It’s exactly the same here. I watch many podcasts and it’s definitely increased in the recent months. Feel like they’re pushing monthly paid for membership without adverts. @KnitsFromLincolnshire20 күн бұрын
@@juliebanham300 I’m knitting on my second one now. And I don’t think there’s mistakes as such. It’s just not as clear as it could be. If you remember that all odd rows are the right side and all even rows are the wrong side, it flows fine. This time, After the initial garter border, I did go straight into the eyelets and then into seed stitch, as I felt that garter stitch and seed were so similar that they shouldn’t be next to each other. I hope that helps! Xx

Thankyou for the lovely story behind your fab knits. As a fairly new knitter would love a video on yarns and your reasons why you like them,I’m struggling on deciding which yarn to buy,also the best yarns are just so expensive and I can’t justify the price.
@KnitsFromLincolnshire27 күн бұрын
This is such a complicated subject! In general I love natural fibres; wool, alpaca, merino, mohair, bamboo… But where things become complicated is where you start knitting them! Choosing the right size needles and the right gauge for the yarn is so difficult. Some yarns perform best when knitted at a tight gauge and others when knitted on a loose gauge, giving them room to bloom. Add different patterns, textures, lace, cables etc and again different yarns perform differently. I think the best results are achieved when using the yarn suggested in the pattern. But that’s not always affordable and you might want to use yarn that you already have in the stash! It’s such a trial and error process! I generally love more rustic yarns, maybe because I was raised in Finland, wrapped in rustic workhorse yarn (Novita 7 Brothers). But at the same time I’m feeling that I need more delicates knits in my wardrobe for going out. I’m as confused as any other knitter! But I’ve just been watching other 2024 knitting recap videos and listened carefully how others feel about different yarns and what they’ve achieved and I think I want to try Sandnes Garn Peer Gynt next for a DK weight warm & rustic sweater. I’m quickly falling in love with Petite Knits Storm Sweater! Sorry that this doesn’t answer anything, but I find it a challenging subject! Very, very interesting but not an easy one to get right Xx
