Building an internal and external network is essential. Seeking mentors outside your organization that can check you is critical. Many people do build friendships at work and those circles tend to rise together upwards so there can be a need to balance this podcast. Sometimes the circle is a "situationship" and sometimes there are elements of genuine friendship. Loner individual contributors and loner leaders are always picked off in down times so balance is key. Just my experience.

On every workplace I been I seen that. At my particular workplace favoritism towards certain women have been very obvious it’s based on who my manager like and probably goes to bed with its very disgusting. And some women are accountable for this behaviors as well going to bed with taken guys in exchange for work.

People who get rewarded after people have left because of them. Sums up my org in a nutshell. I'm not under him nor do I want to be. I have a great circle of leaders in it, so I'm grateful to them and that's what makes me stay.

I had one (at a previous organization) who attempted to present a spreadsheet I created at a meeting with executives as their own work. I watermarked the spreadsheet with my name and date of creation and also watermarked the research materials compiled. My former manager was peeved, and held that against me for the remainder of my tenure. The executives contacted me directly for ongoing support regarding that project, and were quite sad when I announced my departure.

I wish I could take you with me to deal with the jerks. I haven't landed my first position yet, but I know they are there. There's always at least one 😂

I had brought this up in a meeting I was called in for and I told them it felt like a toxic and hostile environment to which to with they said it was said about me. Funny thing is the complaining person was fired from many sites and I asked for a different account ,manager and things got better. The other person no longer works for the company. It’s funny how they always wanna put it on you instead of listening to both sides, , mediate and look at a persons track record. Jealously and office politics are horrid.

I've found, that even though colleagues, may agree with you about bad behaviour, they rarely back you up, if you say anything. They are quite happy though, to benefit from any improvements that may be put in place.

My problem is people of color get the jobs before i do. In my own country. This is partly thanks to diversity portfolio imposed on the world, because lgbt gets jobs with less problems almost as much as nepotistic dinasties members do. Not usa, but companies hiring in here push natives out bringing some people from across the world and natives are out of jobs.technically this means they impose new candidates that dont even know language sometimes but DO get the job. So, im fighting domestic nepotism and companies imported usually from west that will not give ME a chance.

Im sorry i didnt find you before. This is how my prosection started, i complained about corruption and nepotism on my line of work. And its ongoing for several years with a horrifying twist too. At my expensw of course. System defends itsepf by destroying people like me who actually proposed some good things.

My 2 cents is that if you are a hardworker by nature, don't get a job be self employed as soon as possible. If your principles don't align with the whole structure of being an employee get out as soon as possible, start your own thing. That way, no one will hinder your growth or be up your azz all day long. 💯
