G'day mate from memory the drain bung is on the sump of the engine if you look underneath the mower you should see it, personally I use the mightyvac oil extraction system because of the amount of engine's I work on but if you wanted something cheaper and does a similar job google the briggs and stratton oil extraction system

My new awd Toro lacks traction so I pushed the 2 cables further down towards the motor with no better results. How does pushing the casing down with the cable inside the casing do any thing? What else can I do to help traction? ......many thanks good video!

So here is how to fix it. Up on the handlebar look for the personal drive cable. Loosen nut and gently pull that cable until it has tension and tighten it back up. Honestly I don't suggest awd mowers. Rear drive mowers have plenty of traction. As for Toros motors I truely hate them. They utilize a throw away engine not only that but torque they claim is not accurate aswell the compression is weak. You can have a crap load of torque on a mower but if you do not have rpm your mower will just beat the grass and not truely cut. You see vids all the time of owners complaining about decks getting plugged especially in wet grass as well as grass catchers not filling up.

Great video mate. After watching this I bought one. Happy with it so far. I want to upgrade the plug for the same reason as you. But when I search Torch A5RTC, the NKG equivalent is CR5HSB. I don’t know much about plugs, why did you go the CR5HIX?

@@blairstonehouse I done first all change at 1 hour with generator running at about half load for that hour mate, then next one was at 10 hours then regular servicing after that, all new engines can have very small metal particles that will come through in first and 2nd oil changes that's why I do it at those periods some people will do it at 1 hour, then 5 hours then 10 hours but honestly I don't think don't need to do the 5 hour

Bunnings wants $300 for the genuine Ryobi battery. There are compatible battery clones going for $90-$100. I wonder if it is worth going that route.
@smithiesoutdoorequipment
@smithiesoutdoorequipment Жыл бұрын
G'day mate yes that's correct $299 for 6ah and $399 for 9ah and I'm sure they've got a 12ah also but it's $500 which is a lot for the battery, the 40v is actually the 36v they've just marketed it as 40v elsewhere and 36v elsewhere confusing I know. As for the aftermarket batteries I've read some that have had a great run from them, but I've read nightmare posts about them also, so I guess it's luck of the draw mate I have two Ryobi RIG2000 inverter generators running in parallel on my block and they've not missed a beat they usually run 12 hours a day 3 days straight and been doing that for 9 months
@AussieAmigan
@AussieAmigan Жыл бұрын
@@smithiesoutdoorequipment Thanks for your reply. I guess even should I find that it hasn't got as much power as I want out of the box, I'll always be able to throw some money at some higher capacity batteries to make up for it. Hopefully, that kinda makes it future proof. I guess those batteries will come down in price some day. Interestingly, having looked at a few videos, it doesn't appear that the 40v model allows you to run the two batteries in parallel like this one can. Unless, I've gotten it mixed up, it makes you flip the key which has a pointer to the battery in use. Yeah, I think I'd go for the genuine Ryobi batteries too, having watched some comparison videos.
@AussieAmigan
@AussieAmigan Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the video. I am thinking of buying this from Bunnings and literally can't wait for a demonstration follow up episode from you soon. I am surprised about how few reviews there are of this mower out there, and yet so many reviews for the newer 40v model which is around $300+ more expensive. Worse, these reviews never show how it cuts grass that actually needs cutting. I also wonder how much the extra battery costs as I would be looking to buy one as well? There was some Bunnings shenanigans with batteries only being on sale 2 at a time or some such thing which gave me pause. Looking at the mower, in store, I did like how the catcher worked as you don't have to reach lower for a flap. That, and being self propelled is great as I'm getting older and have some health issues, and I have an 11 year old who might be able to handle this with supervision. Also, one of the reviews for the 40v mentioned that if you lift the front to turn on the back wheels(as I would want to do) the engine will cut out. Is that so and is it annoying?
