He's right when it comes to training. Train till the day you die. I took on this mindset 💯 when I met a 89 yr old kung master who extremely skilled at tang lang chuen aka mantis fist boxing. 👊 Today I see too many younger people not committed to thier martial art, complaining about even basic training.

Very nice to see a master that is sticking to the traditions and this is a rare sight, respect to you. And I already know there are people thinking this doesn't work on the street, if you think that then you have little knowledge or are biased towards your style of sport or martial art. Kung fu as a whole has been designed for war and on the street, it is tried and tested and trust me it works better than any sport such as MMA or Muay thai or Kickboxing etc

There are martial sports, and also martial arts. Bastardizing either one to become the other does a disservice to both. Sadly few people distinguish the difference. And this is true for many in teaching positions.

You don't really know what you are talking about then. Hung Gar is a very serious, very lethal fighting style....I know. I won't be getting into any KZbin discussion with you. Just find a master or good student and challenge them to a fight....they will show you it is NOT just about exercise. As I say, you don't have any idea what you are talking about.

This guy knows his shit I tell u that much, I practice hung kwoon and I'm Chinese. Most "kung fu" schools u don't even need to do stances. Like he said u pay your money do some drills and u get yourself a belt. They don't understand kung fu takes a lot of determination, will power and discipline. And that's where the stances come in. It's not easy sitting in stance for an hour or more but every human being with legs can do it, but not many want to push themselves to do it.

I agree that you have to go with the times; however, these traditional arts were used in actual hand to hand combat in their own time. The only problem is that people don't train the way they used to. People are treating the traditional arts like a bowling league. Today, people are into sports like MMA rather than actual combat. MMA is not for self defense as there are no rules in the street. Also, multiple opponents and weapons are likely. Classical arts must evolve to remain effective.

This is WORST Skills For Anyone. iHave Zero Skills Regarding it, But Based on Movies That iHave Seen. These Guys in Video Are WORST Terrible in Skills That if if Anyone in China Were To See Them That THE Chinese Would Think Americans Had Zero+No Fighting Skills BEYOND ONLY BRUTE STRENGTH is What Americans Are Known For in Boxing is Mostly Brute Strength ++ Avoid ing Getting Punched ++ Bad Technique Of Using Gloves Prevent Use Of Fingers And Wrist is Another Terrible Fighting Style [ Do You Think Anyone in Street Fight is Going To Use Boxing Gloves ? NO] iHave Never in Any KZbin Video Seen Such Terrible Skills. This is My First Ever. Everyone in Comment Section is Being Polite By NOT Stating Obvious. The Teacher Looks Strong, But Both He And Also His Students Have Almost No Fighting Skills Beyond Brute Strength. I'm Weakling And Just About Anyone Could Probably Defeat Me. @@WhatMatters5 they are practicing kung fu, not trying to show off how good they can fight, so it may not look pleasing to your eye... Practicing is about discipline, balance, inner calm, and many other qualities being perfected. Whether they can fight a boxer or not does not matter, kung fu is not about winning fights. I respect the sifu in this video, I love the qualities he is spreading. humble and calm. sending peace to all

What you are seeing in this video are exercises aka forms. When they are done over and over again it becomes muscle memory. Take Tai Chi for example it appears to be slow and uneffective, but whe it is used at full speed it can actually fuck some body up. No matter what fighting style some one knows or all they know is how to street fight the first thing to master is that fight or flight moment, to stay focused, calm and strike fast and hard

thanks for uploading such a good video....master marshall is a man full of respect for all people especially other martial artists .. it is clear fom the way he talks... and he spoke some of the wisest words ever said .. the whoe point of martial arts is to discipline your ego through your body mind and spirit ..not to inflate your ego and establishing oneself as greater or better ... also it takes a lot of courage to say that ...there is no shame in running away from potential brawls..thanks
