My swede likes h4350 and 7828sc with sierra 140 game kings. The last group measured .440.My rifle is a 98 mauser, that was sporterized by kimber back in the 70s.Oh and since you ask your press flexes a lot.Stick with it you'll figure it out.

What was your load charge for the h4350? Just bought a box of 140 game kings coming the mail. Need a starting point.

This might help you with bumping the shoulder. I take a 1st measurement of fired case. 2nd, I set the full-length body die like the manufacturer recommended, taking measurement of case and figuring out how much to back out die in thousands. For example if the difference between the 2 cases is 10 thousands and you want a 2 thousands bump you would need 8 thousands clearance using a filler Guage between shell holder and bottom of die with handle pulled down this will get you very close note you will have 1 piece of brass fully resized mark it and use as a fouler . Also, like others have said, let Dillion case lube dry or switch case lube imperial or even RCBS case lube dry graphite I use in necks when turning necks. Also, beware of shell holders use only the manufacturer of die shell holder. For example, Do Not Do Hornady die with Lee shell holder, the shell holder will charge in thickness from one manufacturer to another and will cause problems. Hope you find this helpful.

Thank you. I am looking at getting a different sizing setup and trying different lube. Trying to convince myself weather body sizing is necessary

@sedireloading1204 I would say full-length/ bumping shoulder it is no longer recommended to neck only after about 2-3 firings you will have to full-length size. You can find a KZbin video on Eric Cortina about two years ago, and he shows how he bumps shoulders using the first 2 steps his press is a Coaxial Press. With a single stage press, I find using a Filler Guage helps. You just have to place it to the side of the shell holder, and you just want a slight drag. you do not want to pinch it between shell holder and bottom of full-length sizing die.

Had a similar thing with my 22-250, just moving too much brass at once so I backed the die right off and did it in 2 stages and that seemed to work fine.

Did you shake your bottle of Dillon lube, alcohol & lanolin? Also, allow the alcohol to evaporate from the case fully so only the lanolin is on the case before sizing. Hope this helps. Make sure the die is clean inside.

Yes I did. I cleaned the die before starting the video. I may try a different lube. But it was getting tight very soon don’t think any line will get past that.

RL 22 and other RL powder are good but price and availability is not good I think the 4831 is a good start and look at the Vihtavuori powder it is very similar to RL and a lot of times it is better

I have never used vihtavuori powder. I will definitely try it one day but for some reason it is way more expensive here than hodgen powders like over 70 for a pound.

I always liked IMR 4350! I remember an old timer said Federal Match primer, 42grs of IMR 4350, and a Hornady 140gr Interlock was a great load. Im not sure the speed.

Reloading manuals really need to list a" 6.5x55 modern" and a standard "6.5x55 classic" 8f they did this the 6.5x55 would take off here in the states

They never will because they would still chamber in a Krag....It's not the small ring Mauser that is the liability issue even though they caution about "older rifles".

I don't have to reload and work up some data. I shoot one of those M96's you speak of that has been customized, not bubbasized, back in 2000. Probably one of the nicest mauser hunting rifles a man would ever want to own. Has a 1912 receiver date and puts 3 Federal 140 SP or Nosler 140gr AB touching all day long. 2650fps advertised. Deer and hogs drop in their tracks. I don't need 2800fps to kill a deer or hog in these woods.

Thanks for making this video. I too am in the process of working up data for the modern 6.5x55. Same barrel manufacturer and it is on a Savage m110. I used a Boyd's at1 stock. Had to inlet the barrel chanel and the bottom metal (pt&g AI). I am in the final stages of adjusting my epoxy bed for proper magazine height. I look forward to your next video and your findings. Good work.

🇦🇺😎👍Good choice of calibers 🏁…..6.5 Creedmoor is the gay cowboys cartridge…6.5x55 is the real man’s caliber💪🤠👍…… try some PPU 139 grain soft point ammo. You’ll get under 25 mm or 1”@100 yards and the brass is good for reloading I’ve heard…. The 6.5x55 is the undiscovered ruler of the firearms world. I’ve shot 1000s of rounds over 30 years and it never disappoints me big fella …🏁🇦🇺6.5x55🇺🇸🏁

Like your video but not your rifle handling. You never visually inspected the chamber and had it pointing out the door or at yourself cocked. You probably didn’t even notice this as you were concentrating on getting it into picture but it’s good to promote safe handling practices.
