This airplane is NOT a true canard, but its own unique design. The Avant's forward wing has no control surfaces. Still a cool pusher design.

People freak when they power down the engines shortly after takeoff. I know I did when I first flew. Later learned it was normal proceedure. Now it doesnt bother me.

Great all-around view of lots of the SFV and LA. The Santa Ana winds almost always make for great visibility by blowing away the smog. Thanks for posting!

What I understand, when they actually built this aircraft, it had a superb mile per gallon rate or more properly in an aircraft, gallon per hour rate.

@@101xaplax101 that's interesting, what is its current cruise speed? It was my understanding when Lear was building this that the crew speed was somewhere close to about 500 knots. Perhaps 450. Which places the speed fairly close to five hundred miles an hour. If I'm doing my figures right this early in the morning.

@@44hawk28 they claim 400kts but in practice is was much lower than that. canard planes are very sensitive to the weight distribution of passengers and baggage compared to conventional aircraft and will probably never be utilized widespread for that reason alone.

@@101xaplax101 thank you for the information, as I researched it a little bit I thought it was closer to about 425 knots, but it was dependent on loading. I noticed even when they built the aircraft they did not use much of an area rule on the fuselage. But 400 knots is nothing to sneeze at for carrying the number of people that it does for a decent distance. I just don't see much of them because they're not used in this country very much.
