Satie wrote, “Toute ma jeunesse on me disait : vous verrez quand vous aurez 50 ans. J'ai 50 ans. Je n'ai rien vu.” Which means, “All my youth I was told: you will see when you are 50. I am 50 now. I have not yet seen anything.”

Thanks for this piece of great music and lovely interpretation. Could you tell me where to find the paintings of Basia Wehinger please ? Online or in a book ... I'm working on painting skies & seas & need models to guide me. Thanks

Basia's paintings can be found only at her home in Basel, Switzerland and at some friends' homes.

Glad I came across this. I just love this subtle and gentle interpretation- I’m so used to listening it in piano or violin form. The violin makes it incredibly sad. The piano is more “every day” but this, this is stunning and peaceful.

You inspired me with this performance to start playing classical music on my chromatic! I had to play in a higher register, though, as I have a 12 hole chromatic that is not a bass one. I think I could reach the lower register without a bass model if I had a 16 hole chromatic. I think someday, if I want to continue with classcial, that is what I'll have to get. Satie is just perfect for chromatic harmonica. The music is so soulful and melancholy, and that can be captured so well on a chromatic harp, espeically in a lower key. Thanks for the inspiriation! And thanks for the detailed notes for the performance, with the haromnicas used being detailed, and the keys, etc.

It seems like this was written for koto. The scale fits, the phrasing fits, the mysterious and exotic melody. That hits the spot.

Listening to this, i can see that Satie most certainly intended to set the Gnossienne for exactly this orchestration. :-) But where to buy a koto, back then? A Piano was easyly available (he had three pianos in his tiny appartment, the three instruments were litterally stacked upon each other. That is not a joke. Beauuuutifull, sensual arrangement of this thoughtful piece of music. Congratulations.
