Oboy. Lots of things can hurt this engine. Fyi fuel map is to lean and ingion timing is aggressive for a stock map.... get a wide band O2 and a egt, it will help alot on turning.

Hey mate thanks for feedback. I actually have an 82 degree thermostat in mine atm. As for the idle I will reduce it to 900. This car us more if a guinea pig atm but it's awesome fun tinkering

Hey, been following your RX8 journey since you bought your first one. Just wanted to share my 2 cents but stock thermostat doesnt fully open until 86C, so it wouldn't be a good idea to set fans any lower than 86. At operating temp, you want the thermostat to remain fully open, and not constantly open and close. Hope that makes sense. If you set it any lower, your fans would essentially be running at max speed (high speed mode) all the time whilst you're at a red light which is introducing unnecessary wear on your fan motors. I've personally have set mine to 90C and 94C to keep it within optimal temps at long red light stops or traffic, but not have it run all the time (cruising between stop lights is usually enough to cool the car down to 86C and it slowly creeps up to 91 until the low speed fan mode kicks in). Keep in mind when you go past the speed threshold, i.e. when you're moving, the fans will turn off anyways, so the fan temp trigger setting is really only for when you are at a stop or creeping speed. 1000RPM idle is okay but i would recommend 950 or 900 to ensure it is only just slightly higher than 850rpm (if i recall it is for the water pump) as higher idle means higher wear and fuel consumption so you really want to set it to the lowest possible idle that you can (in this case 900 or 950). One could argue the difference between 1000 and 900 is negligible but it's not hard to change the number and theres no benefit of 1000rpm idle besides perhaps making it easier to move off at the red light 🤙🏻

@@domsta2008 Bro 10K I was expecting 20k good craftsman's ship. Only thing I will say is that the TB45 is the weakest of the TB engines and doesn't like much boost at all. Has it been tuned or is that up to the next owner?

Im not in Australia though. So is a built vk the better option? I got a buddy who’s got a vk56de from his truck he said he’ll give me. Some say that ones the best option. I’ll have to build any of them regardless as I want some power. So you’re saying it’s not reliable at all even built or you meant in stock form? Most have said they’re reliable however that was stock ha.

Both the VH45DE and VH41DE share the same spider manifold. Main differences are the VH41DE is destroked compared to the VH45 and allegedly, the VH41DE heads flow better.

Hey mate only running low boost atm. Around 4psi. Engine is completely stock but they can run 8 to 10psi safely with a decent tune and ecu

I bought an 8 less than a year ago and have no regrets I absolutely love the car. I would not advise to use as a daily driver but for a weekend or seasonal car it’s great. The smiles per gallon are real.
