Jesus was not born in Bethlehem but just outside it probably in this very area. Did you know that the shepherds fields are where the sheep for offerings in the temple in Jerusalem were raised. They were raised carefully so that no damage spot or stain would be on them especially the paschal lamb which would be offered up to God at the great feast of Passover. So carefully was he tended that he was wrapped in swaddling clothes to be brought to the temple before he was slaughtered and offered up to God to save His people from their sins.
