Good Video Sir, That’s different to the way I modded my Samsung PC Drive which I pulled from an old Non-Working Dell SFF PC, I just removed a resistor although I have no idea where it went, It’s certainly no longer on or in the Drive, I moved one solder blob and removed another solder blob & installed a jumper wire, I believe it’s working although I have no disks to check it with but it’s making all the right noises, Anthony - Birmingham/UK 🇬🇧

THANK YOU. I'm working on a Denon DRR-730 right now with exactly this problem. Will a bit of lubrication get that solenoid working again? I should be so lucky.

Danke dir! Habe dein Video als Grundlage für die Reparatur eines Denon DRM 400 benutzen können. Gleiche Problemlösung bei leicht anderer Hardware. Hat super funktioniert.

Thanks for your work on this video. I've had an old DRM-600 in a box in my garage for around 15 years or so. I found some old cassettes the other day and wanted to hear what was on them, so I dug out the player only to find the same problem as you describe. I added a drop of oil (without removing the mechanism) and all is good! You've saved me a lot of time and trouble - Thanks from Sydney Australia :-)

Even though it's already 8 years later, i had to do this a bit differently. At least what the adjustment wheel goes. I couldn't glue it, since the rubber ring was completely pulverized. So i just took 2 o-rings (approx. 4.8x1.9mm each) and pushed them onto the original indentation of the original rubber. A truly easy fix without any cutting and/or adjusting of the mechanism. It's nice and grippy again.

Seems like it's never too late to make this mistake! 🙃 but this solution worked for me 😃Thank you! TIP for extraction: leave enough card(board) above the cut-out to keep stiffness; this helps if your SD card puts up some resistance. For future prevention, I am considering putting some tape on the lower part of the CD/DVD slot as I rarely use it these days

Thank you for the video and troubleshooting. Found a DRM-400 at Value Village for $6.99 and the sticky solenoid was the only problem with the deck.

This is not one of the first Amigas. The motherboard is clearly rev.6a you can see that by the 4 memory chips. The old first Amigas rev.3 had 16 memory chips. Also here you have ECS fat Agnus 8372A which supports up to 1MB chipram and that was implemented from rev.6a. So anyways you've got one of the later Amigas (90-91) with the keyboard from ' 87

Some more info on how to open it up would be handy!!.... .I don't see the point of rubbing all over the metalwork with a cotton bud....It really don't matter if the previous owner was a tobacco , cannibus or anybus smoker, or none of the above....Spraying some CRC into any noisy pots would be a more useful procedure ??, I would think......Then show us about the other stuff mentioned!

No, (since i no longer own the unit). It matters because otherwise the unit continues to be a stinky and be a sticky mess.

Capacitors may have leaked because the polarity for the connector is negative on the center, which is reverse of almost everything else using those connectors. I just found one cleaning out an old drawer. AM/FM works but the belt is probably broken.
@HardDiskLover2 жыл бұрын
The polarity issue here isn't the cause and would only affect the capacitors on the power rail. The capacitors used here are known to leak regardless. A lot of devices manufactured during this time frame need a full recap, because they just start to leak due to the chemicals used and the way they are constructed. The sega game gear is another device that has an issue like this.

Du hast die Restauration aufgrund des defekten Zeilentrafos abgebrochen?
@HardDiskLover3 жыл бұрын

Interesting. i remember like 25years ago when i modified just connection of PC floppy drive to my amiga 2000. I have checked all pins on amiga nad pc drive and managed that i need to invert signal sending "disk inside" info, then i have added simple logic chip betveen pc drive and amiga and as i remeber it worked for me like charm. I do not remember any changes needed directly on drive.
@tahustvedt3 жыл бұрын
Maybe it's a good idea to use a resistor between the cpacitor and the motherboard, because when the capacitor is empty and you turn on the Amiga the inrush current will be extremely high to charge it. It's basically a short for a moment.
