I always have to test this over and over the end up with the right number of stitches but I think it’s 5 plus 3 at the end for the row that you build the scale on.

@ thank you! When I looked it up it said six plus 4 but it wasn’t working I took it apart 4 times and the last time I added 3 more chains to the foundation and it worked fine! This is thee cutest pattern btw and thank you for replying!

I don’t know. You have to measure on your dog as you go. Chain as many as will fit around the widest part of your dog which would be head or chest or stomach. Make sure you have an even amount of stitches. Make it the length you want up to the legs ( avoid the pee - er) To divide stitches for legs have more stitches for the back than the front ( to avoid bulkiness between legs) make sure you have rough rows so the legs can move nicely. Make a neck with remaining stitches to desired length. You can use this pattern as a guide to know the basic shape you are looking for.

This sweater fits up to a 7 lb pet. I have small size sweater that fit up to a 10 lb pet. Those may work out better for your cat.
