Can you please give me some suggestions regarding my visa process. I got unconditional offer letter from Unitec Institute of Technology Auckland , for the course of Bachelor of Veterinary Nursing. I was planning to study for my PhD in New Zealand as It was my dream since I was a child to migrate to New Zealand. I applied and was assigned to a supervisor from a particular NZ university. and when I had an online meeting with her, she painted a grim picture, that the living costs are high and there are no job opportunities in New Zealand. She also discouraged me from pursuing my research area as I am not a resident of the country. I gave up and since then I never wanted to apply to any NZ universities.

Kia ora. It is true that the cost of living here is high and job opportunities are lower, though that depends on your field of interest. However, it is important to note that Aotearoa New Zealand is a strongly community-based system - as a non-resident (and I speak from experience), we must make double the effort to integrate into the community and our fields. It is difficult but not impossible :) I'm sorry that you had such a disheartening conversation with a supervisor who should have believed in your abilities.

Can Master's Student studying a research program work part time during their study/research? (We are legible to work 20 hrs/week, but would the work load of the research permit the flexibility to do so?).
