Thanks for your passport rhythm lesson! Great teaching. Have you ever played the Malian Sandia rhythm? The pattern is back to front with the tone beat on the pulse instead of the slap. When I teach my students it’s fun seeing to see the mischief and fun and games Sandia creates! 😂

Give me some credentials who did you study with? No disrespect you can certainly play just curious at least in the intro you should give your credentials just a thought.

Thanks @howardunderwood1572. Ah yes, because a woman can't just be a good djembe player, there must surely be some men responsible! You can find out more about me on my website: www.drummergirl.com.au/drummergirl

There are excellent women djembe players and not all women drummers learn from men, but most of the grand masters and masters I have seen have been men you are a very skilled drummer, and very impressive credentials much continued success 👍🏾🪘🪘🪘peace.

Very important pattern indeed. For more speed and endurance, try to reverse the "slap slap": right left instead of left right. Next level form intermediate-advanced players: play the whole thing with alternate hands. Practice wit a metronome. Practice alternaiting hands patterns seemingly (no difference must be noticeable in the music when you swicht from a hand pattern to another).

Thanks for the info - I have played/been taught many ways on my journey but I now prefer this hand stroke order for the voicing.
well done.. seems to me like a sister rhythm of karachi :)

Hi Simone, can I ask you something, are you left-handed or right-handed? Congratulations for the beautiful videos, very interesting!
@drummergirlSimone Жыл бұрын
Hi Michele - I am right handed but I think I play/set-up opposite to a lot of teachers. My reason for this is it is easier to play double strokes on my dominant hand and they often land on the kenkeni e.g. Tiriba & Djole. If you want more (& better) videos, check out my other site drumwithSimone.com. You can get a free month if you sign up (no tricks - cancel anytime!). Many thanks for your comments!
