Thanks for this informative video. May I ask what brand and model of pickup you have installed. And also, do the pickup wires go straight to the guitar jack or do they need have volume or tone pots in between? If so, I presume they are nested under the pickguard. Lastly, is the pickguard attached via screw in at the edge of the cutaway and then rests against the bridge or is it also secured at the bridge in some manner? If so, exactly how. Sorry for all the questions, but it would be great to know. Best and thanks again.

It was one the pickup Gretsch use on the G100CE. It was wired straight to the output jack.

Well put. Not only are there 'snake oil' salesman or biased youtubers with hidden agendas, but there are those who don't even have a grasp of the subject they seek to 'teach'. I am not only talking about guitar, of course. Think of the 'Health and Fitness' market, for example.

Most expensive guitar makers have lesser quality companies that make same guitar models cheaper. Fender has squire, Gibson has Epiphone, musicman has sterling. .... So dangelico should have a cheaper version as well. Nobody but lawyers and doctors, can afford the over priced guitars. Which are you?

On the cheaper version, instead of the empire state building truss rod cover they could have a housing project truss rod cover 🤔

Actually, you say the white paint had gone a bit darker with time. But it may be because they makers actually DID make TWO old english whites - one a bit lighter, and one a bit darker!

Hi. Interesting video of your MG. Those driveshaft rubber universal joints 3:29 do behave like a constant velocity joint btw due to the rubber (I replaced them with after market Quinton Hazell?? needle roller universal joints and vibration was evident under hard acceleration as the front suspension rose so increasing the angle the joints had to work at; it didn't help that the car was an early Mini 1275GT with Hydrolastic suspension). Good idea to change the final drive ratio to a higher value for quieter and more economical highway cruising. P.S. I'm looking forward to viewing your video on the Riley (traditionally a sporty marque).

The manufacturers were cheapskates, and not only did my original Mini have NO protective rubber coating, but I bet other makes in British Motor Corporation probably had no rust protection either.

A small correction: the standard scale length for a classical guitar is 650mm - slightly longer than the 25.5” (about 648mm) listed here. While it is certainly true that the smallest nylon/gut string string guitars would usually have a shorter scale length, this Archtop is by no means in that category, having a lower bout significantly wider than a typical classical or flamenco guitar, the latter of which often have scale lengths in excess of 650mm.

Hey Daniel.. stephen made this guitar for me in the mid 90’s .. i changed the pickup to a Benedetto .. it originally had a Dimarzio.. the lower bout/side had been replaced .. the other guitar is owned by Aubery Maher in Melb. Good to see it again.. i moved it to purchase a Ramirez 1A Stephen also made a 3rd guitar for Steve Miller .. well known US guitarist No idea where Stephen is now..

The truss rod is accessed via the guitars tailpiece. The wooden endpin/strap button can be pulled /twisted out of the tailpiece and a long adjustment tool with a 1/4 inch square socket driver can be used to adjust the truss rod at the neck end of the guitar. I have a 1960 Supreme anda 1951 Goldtone that use this method. Maton no longer supply or sell the tool but they can be made by someone with decent metalworking skills without too much of a problem.
@DLee1100s
@DLee1100s Жыл бұрын
Thanks, that is interesting. I think in this case, as it's an electric version, I would access it through the pickup holes. But good to know for the acoustic ones.
@konkonidaris8469
@konkonidaris8469 Жыл бұрын
If it's a wooden end pin it should pop out with a little coaxing. Both vintage Maton acoustics and hollow body electrics are accessed through the tailpiece. Your Starline should be the same.

The A series 1100 mg engine is very interesting as a tuning proposition. Standard 12g295 cylinder head twin Su's same bore as 1,000cc block with a long stroke crank. interesting with cooper high compression pistons in. I put one in a mini van with a 3.44 to 1 diff' to give it "long legs" might have been interesting on 12" wheels in the M.G.

In the early 70's I put such an engine (1098, 12G295 head, Duplex timing gears, single 1 1/2" SU, 3.44 diff) in my 1962 Mini. Went like stink. Still have the car, going to fit 12" wheels soon.

Gday there, just letting you know that this guitar is in fact a 5A Premier rather than a 45A. This is evident by the label. The 45A Premiers actually had 45A written on the label but the 5A model simply just had 'PREMIER'. Also the body size of the 5A is quite a lot smaller than the 45A. Just thought you'd be keen to know this info. Beautiful guitars. I also have a 5A and a EG45A. Cheers
