Ive used elixers for as long as ive played guitar. They used to be steel strings. They lasted years and years. The new plated strings arent the same... but i stay using them cause every other string just wears out. N i need the longevity with a decent sound. Im trying to find wtf optiweb is... they used to show the coating and compare poly vs nano. I always used nano. Even long after the coating wore off and frayed... the string would last another year. I used to practice anywhere 3-6 hours a day. Till i learned tto play the silly thing. I wear out cheap strings very fast. WHAT IS OPTIWEB. i want a heavy gauge now. Im done with 10 gauge. I need a good string that will last. Ive used 10’s for 18 years. N they are sounding thin to me now. I want that heavy gauge frequency. Tension on the neck. Resonance. But can i trust optiweb as i have trusted nanoweb? When i played heavy metal exclusively. Drop d offered more string flex and thus was heavier sounding. N steel too. Was just fine.

Thank you for the video. I think this is a great choice to start finger picking with. The one thing I noticed, a little after a minute in, she showed a chord position and stressed to use your third, or ring, finger. However, the camera was at the wrong angle, because we couldn't see her finger placement, it was blocked by her index finger. There should have been a straight-on, closer shot for the finger positions.

Most of my guitars are tuned to Drop C (always). Wouldn't I want to have my guitar tuned to Drop C before making adjustments? Wouldn't increasing the tension to standard tuning make a difference?

And always wipe down with a cloth after playing. I know someone who doesn't do all that and his strings look really dark and feel almost sticky. I'm gonna send this to him definitely.

- Why measure the string height at the point where the neck meets the body, why not at the halfway point of the neck? And why isn’t the G string set to the same height as the E string given the fact they are over the same point in the neck radius.?

And if all strings are OK except big E who's buzzing all the time, what could be the problem? frets are ok, action and truss are ok. Gauge is 42 so definitely not big. Thanks a lot

As I looked all the comments about the height, you would have to notice the height is on 17th fret. If you get the mesure on the 12th, it's normal to be lower. So 3 mm on low string and 2,5 mm on high string is perfectly right!

I love the power & volume of 13s on my '63 Martin D-28, but . . . . the scale-length necessitates the use of 12s. 13s are just a wee bit too tough - though they can work well on shorter-scale instruments (e.g. Gibson J-45s or Martin 000-size guitars). In the end, it's a compromise between volume and comfort; most people plump for 12s - they are the sweet-spot.

Timely information. My other thinking on this was that my pinky should take the low note and my middle and ring take the two upper notes, while holding the pick and not using it, this other recommendation is a strategy with merit. My reason for doing this is because of my great interest in learning a song by Fairport Convention, the, the the Great! The Awesome. And yes I will say it. The Divinely Mandated.

Jones also attended an elite prep school, in Kent ( upper class) for music . He’s no pot smoking dummy who blundered his way into success. Event he never went into Led Zeppelin, he’d a been a George Martin success story.
