Here's how you can master these techniques! Hitting the bars: Make sure to hit in the middle of the bar, but not perfectly centered! There's a tiny dead spot right in the middle of every bar. Using the pedal: Try not to have too many different notes ringing at once when pedaling. When you hear notes clashing, make sure to re-pedal! Half Pedaling: This technique involves pushing the pedal down just a smidge so that the sound isn't staccato, but isn't sustained either. Think of it like trying to sound like a marimba! Mallet Dampening: Using dampening you can create a true legato sound on the vibraphone. Hold the pedal down, hit one note, and at the exact same time as you hit the next note, mute the first one with your free mallet! It will sound like it's crossfading into the next note! Slide Dampening: This difficult technique is good for when you need to dampen but you don't have a free mallet! Hit the 1st note, then play a 2nd note right next to it and slide your mallet over to the first note in the exact same motion! If executed correctly the 2nd note will ring and the 1st one won't. Lateral Dampening: The hardest dampening technique requires 4-mallet technique. The goal is to use one mallet in your hand to dampen a note while the other mallet plays a note! Like slide dampening, this is useful when you need to dampen but your other hand isn't free. And unlike slide dampening, you can deal with two notes that are a large interval apart! Practice the motion slowly and try to get the dampening and playing to happen as close to the exact same time as possible! Thanks for watching!

I saw them sight read this shit at January camp. I've NEVER seen anyone sight read music soo QUICKLY! They were hitting that and the subsequent reps THAT MORNING we got the music. It's insane 4 1/2 minutes of music (movement 1 and 2) done at that camp. Just crazy

Is this edelweiss from the sound of music, because it sounds different for some reason? Good technique though
