Kult at de bruker dem, og kjører ræva av dem! Biler skal brukes, ikke stå.

Their shock absorbers were incredible. I I'm Uganda - East Africa - wish those times come back. I was a rally fan before the costs and specs became unrealistic to me

When I was a teen, me and my family went off the highway and on to a field in our 1984 240 GL, it was a beautiful light green metallic. The car flipped over several times, and landed on its wheels, the only visible damage I can remember was the hood, it looked like an upside down V, otherwise the car looked ok. Me, my sister, our parents, and our cat were all fine. No rollcage or anything, just a regular 240. Of course, I'm sure the fact that we were wearing seatbelts made a difference. I liked that car a lot more than the red 1986 740 GLE that replaced it.

Those are Super Beetles with struts on the front end. I'm surprised they held up so well. IIRC most people who race off road prefer the old kingpin front ends. Great video btw. I had a '71 super and a '70 beetle in the 90s. I miss those cars!

They’re almost all Superbugs just like mine. I love them and they use to be lots of fun’s on a dirt road when I was a young man, but still fun today.

Are they swapped with the MKI/II Golf GTI engine (VW-Audi EA827)? They sound similar, and from what I know it's compatible for the Beetle.

I grew up driving a bug on dirt roads. What I don't see is any drivers doing 4 wheel drifts on corners . I used to beat 70s muscle cars on windy or icy roads with a 73 super beetle .

They're probably a heavily modified original engine. Most likely bigger pistons (depending on the rules), a hotter cam, bigger carb and a header system.

SAAB rushed the V4 to market using owners as unpaid testers. Then tried to wiggle out of as much warranty obligation as possible. Major problems with inner driveshaft joints, gearbox bearings and finally the engine blew up. On yes, and a front wheel cracked. SAAB should have stayed with the two-stroke and rubber donuts. Did I mention the main engine oil seal letting go? That was all within the first 17,000 miles. Good suspension and paintwork. Jack, the Japan Alps Brit

One can rally anything, if they got the skills. There's hardcore drivers out there that could probably rally in a suped up 1,100hp 8 ton dump truck...with a compactor full of trash. it also helps to already be familiar with the course, we got gravel back roads around here that people drift old V-8 land yachts on around the curves because they know the max speed, braking distance angle of attack, and other factors to handle them.
