I love the bixpy batteries, all set up like that. I sold my 1st J2 motor kit to my buddy. I purchased the complete newer PP-768 J2 motor. I kept my smaller spare bixpy battery. I made a DiY bracket on the outside of my wilderness systems crate, for the smaller battery. Never run out of juice now. 💯 😎

How much run time can you get with that battery?

How did you connect your rudder cables to the bracket and are you using the 8 ball to maneuver

I’ve been checking this one out do you know if the seams are glued or welded? 2 other units that just came out this year is the ISLE FlyWater and The NewPort NS 130 those both look like they’re well constructed 😎🍻

That's a cool older kayak. I have the J2 PP-768 as well. I actually run it on my AP.-120. So I don't always have to use the Minnkota.45lb thrust. You should know "Marty Zoffenger" He DIY'd the K--1 as a bow mounted trolling motor. And he ran I believe a 2.5 or 4hp outboard on the stern, on one of his kayak builds. 😎 🎣

The Versa rudder is pretty awesome. It makes it easy to install a Bixpy on virtually anything. I just put one on my Hobie Lynx and it works well.

Wish I had seen this before buying the skeg mount! I like it for what it is, but fishing a shoreline would be easier with the transom mount, not to mention maneuverability!

So I just bought a feelfree lure 13.5 with the pedal drive and the motor kit. It was a full package that my local shop was selling. I’ve tried the pedals out a bit and I’m not really comfortable with the pedal motion( sort of a strange way to pedal circular motion). I have the motor for it just waiting on the battery to come in. This is a pretty sweet upgrade idea that I may do. Do you like this style over the rear mount or the motor style that feelfree makes. Thanks man.

Looking at your graphic before clicking on the video "Boat? Kayak? Skiff?" Boat? Yes. Kayak? No Skiff? Maybe This distinction I think is rather important. The Paddleski has been around for more than 15 years. Maybe 20. As the name originally implied....the "Paddleski" design was pretty good for.....well.....paddling. The design change from the 435ps to the current 437ps has been a huge downgrade for the.....paddling portion of it (it's name sake). While the 437ps has made many improvements as...a boat, it's no where near as good as a paddling boat as the old model. So much so that Sea Eagle who originally classified the Paddleski as a kayak, no longer classifies the 437ps as a kayak. The "Kayak" ability of the Paddleski is one of the main reasons I loved the Paddleski design so much. As the 435ps is no longer available, this leaves a huge void to me. The idea of the Paddleski to me was....it was a kayak, it was a motor boat, and it could be a sail boat. I have both models. The 437ps for those that mainly want to use it as a boat has made improvements. There is a little more room for fishing gear (I don't fish), it can handle twice as fast of a motor at 6HP, stand & cast drop-stitch floor, and other improvements. But if it's a kayak people are mainly looking for that could take a half way decent motor, the old model was a better design for doubling as that. But the 437ps is still fantastic for.....what it is. I loved my 435ps, I bought one as a spare as they are no longer available for when mine wears out (15 years old, greatly over used), and it's my favorite boat in the world as I love kayaking, but wanted something that could handle beyond a trolling motor and use a real motor (Are there even ANY other other kayaks that can do this? Not that I've found) Both the older model & new model can be used as a sailboat. You can paddle the....Paddleski 437ps, but your almost required to have the motor installed just in case you needed it if your on a large body of water such as out on the ocean. If the wind kicks up enough, or currents were strong, I wouldn't be capable of paddling back. And I'm a pretty experienced kayaker, in reasonable physical shape. Your also not going to want to paddle the 437ps against any kind of wind for several miles, especially paddling alone. I've made my findings well known, and have hoped Sea Eagle would bring back the 435ps for those of us that want.....something to mostly paddle that can take beyond a trolling motor with all the other great Paddleski design benefits. Many people that bought the 435ps didn't even buy a motor for it and used it only as a kayak. The 437ps is wider, and larger tubes, so therefore a significant difference in the amount of effort needed to paddle it. If your just going to only paddle the 437ps, you better own a motor or be sure it's going to be very calm conditions, or you have a short paddle back. You'll have sore arms quickly if your buying it to use mainly as a kayak. It's really intended to be motored and paddled short distances in calm conditions such as into hard to get to fishing spots, or paddling going with the wind or current, in shallow water areas, etc. But don't get me wrong, the 437ps is a fantastic boat for.....what it was designed to do. And it's design was not for the same intentions as the original model.

H, I wanted to say thank's for the great install BIXBY DYI for Feel Free Pod adapter. I was wondering what you used to mount your fish finder to the pod? I have a Garmin 5" and was gping to store a 10 ah battery inside the pod and run the transducer to another place. My question is does the motor cause any distrubance to the fishfinder? Or make it shake.? Thanks

That's a serious upgrade over the Bixpy (trolling motor). I'd like to have a Honda 5HP. Ownership would require having a trailer hitch welded to the back of my sedan as that won't fit in the trunk along with any of my Paddleski's. Plus I wouldn't want to smell the gas fumes in the car. You have a pickup truck, so it's totally different. I'd also need to get a shed to store gasoline and a gas motor, which I don't have presently. I think my Torqeedo would be my best option most of the time anyway, but I'd really like the range of gasoline, and the speed of a 5HP motor would be a huge upgrade. There are places an hour away or more that I'd really like to have something like that. Most of the time, it's the average sized lakes around here and the Torqeedo is plenty, although plenty of boats with big motors around. Out on the ocean, or really large lakes 3 hours away it would be wonderful to have a 5HP. The people I go boating rarely would want to wait for it to all be setup though or torn down and fit back into a little car and get it to all fit. In a trunk, you could roll it up quickly. My 435ps is certainly faster to put away than my 437ps, and I think that would matter unless I'm alone. And If I need the speed or range or gas, I'd be more likely to travel that far with someone, and I almost have to beg people to go boating. It's not something they are as excited about as me.

I have the 435 it’s the older model there are pros n cons to the older one but it’s cleaner with less attachments. I like all the bells n whistles tho

By the way, I use both the included swivel seats and the inflatable deluxe seats with my Paddleski 437ps as you do. The included swivel seats are more comfortable......to some people. My wife is one of those people. I'm also told if you spend the entire day on the water, the swivel seats tend to be more comfortable. My boating adventures are usually 1.5 - 3 hours typically. What I like about the inflatable seats is I can fit them in the trunk of my sedan, where as the swivel seats have to go in my back seat and take up space. Also heavier to carry down to the water if I'm not using EZ-cart which I use depending on how far the water is from the car. I'm personally fine with either seat. If I'm on a multi-day trip or were to leave the boat in my car, I'd use the inflatable seats.

Per your instructions, I finally got the J2 installed on my beaver tail. Took it out yesterday for the first test run and everything went perfectly. I couldn't wipe the grin off my face. It's still pretty cold here in Ky so I was only out for a couple hours. I only weigh 160lbs. and packed lightly, but still was reaching 5.5 mph on top speed. Thanks again for your video! Can I do this with a moken 12.5?

Thanks for the video. I picked up a barely used 11.5 and the K1 is mounted on the pod, and the large battery was in the front hatch. On my initial trip I had about an inch of water at the front scuppers, obviously riding too low. I'm moving the battery to be back today. I'll try it behind the seat but I'm worried about stability. I'm not very mechanically inclined. If I decide to move the K1 from the pod to the beavertail, do you think I can do this modification without removing it from the kayak? I'm afraid I will screw something up if I try removing it for the install.

I installed the J2 on my Mokin 10 v2 and took it out for the first time yesterday. I weigh 160 lbs. and was reaching 5.5 mph with a headwind. Love my new setup. Boy does this change everything.

I've been following your channel for about 6 months now and when you posted that short video of your new feelfree lure 11.5 midnight bolt color it sold me.. I initially wanted to buy feelfree lure 11.5 but I saw that the 13.5 was the same price so I found a new 13.5 midnight bolt end up driving two and a half hours one way and bought it.. I'm going to buy a Newport NK300 for my 13.5 I need your help I'm on the fence with this decision.. What steering do you prefer? The foot pedals or the eight ball steering..? Thank you in advance ✌️

I would like to move my K1 Bixpy to the back like that, but offset like yours. I do not want to mess with my rudder or upgrade it. What YakGadget items are you using to have it offset to the right?

Bravo is an excellent air pump, but my question is about the choice of battery. I've read that a small 12v 7Ah lead or LiFePo4 battery is sufficient. Can you say something about this.
