Around 56mph is most I can get out of that prop in the video. I have a seen 62 with a race prop and empty hull. All the 3 cylinder 3 carbs engines from the 90’s can make some serious power! Outstanding video, that thing rips! I just love running creeks and bayous, it's just so much more fun than open water. I've got an old Monark 1552 with a 50 Evinrude that I bought new in 1986, it has the original SST 21" prop not great holeshot but a good cruiser and good fuel economy tops out about 38 with a passenger and gear. Spent much of my life running Dorcheat Bayou in N Louisiana, pretty curvy but there are some straights where you can fly. I'll be running the bayou later this week for the first time in nearly 20 years, it is so timely that your video popped up on my feed, it got me excited to see my old haunts. Thanks for posting I really like your rig!

Don't get me wrong...i like goin fast too...but i also like being alive. Seeing how fast you can push a tin boat seems like asking for a bad day. One very tiny mistake or unfortunate unavoidable circumstance gets multiplied on an overpowered boat at speed.
@tieoneon16147 ай бұрын
Wow! And wanted to say I learned from this that u need a set back for too much HP on a boat. I have a brand new Merc 40 on a really light 16ft that was too much. Would lift and torque steer hard left like this does, but even adjusting height 1" above bottom of boat it would bounce with a guy in front.

Been trying to get 60+ out of my 656db for awhile. Where can I find that prop? 2020 edge 1656db 4” setback brackets 6” kick and jack stock Yamaha 90. I’ve ran the laser 13.5x22p, ballistic 13.5x24p, merc chopper 12.75x25p. Top speed 58.7mph
@tcboutdoors689811 ай бұрын
What rpm are you turning the 25p? Send it to Ronnie Gilbert and have it worked down more than likely. Mine is cut similarly to a Yamaha drag. Started as a 24 stock chopper. It’ll turn 6100-6200 rpm

Boat width plays a big factor too. Guy on KZbin put a 225hp merc on one. Motor is too heavy and too powerful to to hold it at high rpm. I’ve seen a few 115-130hp v4 Yamahas on a 15ft run like a scalded dog

61.5 mph on a 15 ft jon boat is absolutely amazing bro nice job! do you think she’d handle the honda bf100 VTEC 4stroke outboard? its definitely the smallest lightest 4 stroke outboard at 100hp since it shares platform with their 75 & 90hp outboards.

Thank you! Id sure like to see what they would do! I bet it will roll! Ima stick with my two stroke for now just because when it breaks I can fix it! Lots cheaper to work on!
