Instead, he stood out as a young man with a perfect combination of confidence in his God and himself. His unwavering self-confidence propelled him forward and ultimately led to his victory in diverse areas of his life. There is a distinct line that separates overconfidence derived from pr!de from true confidence. It's also important to recognize that a lack of self-confidence can arise from various factors such as fe.ar, tra.uma, or a challenging upbringing. Understanding these distinctions allows us to skillfully foster genuine confidence in our children as parents. Self-confidence is very important! Recently, I thought about a rough experience and I can’t explain the very strange joy in my heart during that period. From my experience, I’d define joy as an inward and outward expression that comes with trusting God, His word and promises regardless of the circumstance(pleasant or unpleasant ). Challenges, events and seasons of life are not one-size-fits-all but staying JOY-FULL is required for everyone. As intentional parents, we must cultivate the vital fruit of the spirit - joy in our children. I firmly believe this for several important reasons, which I am wholeheartedly sharing with you. ✅The joy of the Lord will be the strength of our children as they fulfil their purpose and live. ✅ With joy, our children will draw out(life, victories, inheritances and many more)from the springs of salvation. ✅ A joy-taught child is an overcomer. ✅A joyful heart is good medicine for your child. One way to inculcate joy in your child is by teaching them how to walk with the Holy Spirit. One of our responsibilities as parents is to make our children enjoy rendering a service. Service is simply faithfully performing an act wholeheartedly. Let us see 2 Chronicles 25:2 “He(Amaziah) did right in the Lord's sight, but not with a perfect or blameless heart.” you may read it up in other translations. This tells us that services done to God and humanity can be acceptable or unacceptable depending on the heart(motive). When you teach your children to wholeheartedly render a service with their talents, treasures and time you are rightly positioning them on the pathway to honour, reward and many other benefits. May their light shine so that men shall see their good works(acts of service) and give glory to God. I taught ‘Becoming a Servant-Leader’ in today's inculcating godly values class for boys and girls 6-17 years old on our KZbin channel. A perfect example of a diligent man was Nehemiah in the Bible, he consistently carried out and completed his duties well. While studying, I discovered in Nehemiah 2:1 that he never appeared with a sad countenance while serving as a Cupbearer. The only time he seemed sad, the King noticed and granted his request. He led a team that rebuilt the wall and gate of Jerusalem in 52 days! During the last IGC(Inculcating Godly Values Class) for boys and girls, I shared the following with them on how to become diligent. ✅ Planning before they embark on a task: Nehemiah had to inspect the damage when he arrived in Jerusalem. This enabled him to effectively strategies and prepare for the successful completion of the project. ✅ Relying on the help of the Holy Spirit: Nehemiah was a man of prayer and obedience. He prayed before, during and after the project for direction, enquiries, assistance, favour, mercy and strength. It is the presence of the Holy Spirit in us that empowers us for excellence and wisdom. ✅ Always work with people of similar values: Nehemiah partnered, collaborated and worked with people of similar values like persistence, hard work and courage. ✅ Pay attention and focus on the goal: Nehemiah employed the skill of focus. This helped him follow instructions and complete the task in record time. ✅ They avoid distractions and overcome fears: Nehemiah overcame opposition and threats from Sanballat and Tobiah. Just like Nehemiah, diligent people find favour before kings. Your child, grandchild, niece, nephew and young loved one will learn from the class. Daniel in the Holy Bible was an example of a self-disciplined man. Let me share some lessons and principles from his life, I taught boys and girls 6-17 years old about developing self-discipline during our IGVC. ✅ He partnered with the Holy Spirit: As a result of the spirit of wisdom upon his life, he was likened to a god. He was a very wise man who served in several tenures in government carrying out his duty excellently that he could not be faulted. He was able to discern and profer solutions. ✅ He related with disciplined people: Iron sharpens iron. His close friends were principled, disciplined men with similar godly values. They were the best in their time! ✅ His actions aligned with his core values: Even though he was a captive in a strange land, he stayed true to his beliefs, convictions and devotion. This was reflected in his words and actions. Some of his values were self-control, faithfulness and diligence. ✅ He utilized his time wisely: He was focused and studious. Always sought God for answers, instructions and direction. Even the King could attest to his continuous devotion and service to God.
