Erroll Garner is a genius. Not that many you can say of that. And this rendition is such fun. Wonderful.

Incomparable! Erroll kept me sane in high school. And his supporting rhythm stayed out of his way.

so much clearer than my NZ 78RPM issue. As noisy as this 45 is, you can at least hear the drums on this 45 and its for that reason that I will always prefer 45s to 78s, especially 50s ones.

Why are the ships always sinking and blinking at sea? What makes the British start thinking of their cup of tea? It’s now the season, the reason, it’s plain what it means German submarines! What makes the sailors go crazy wherever they cruise? What makes the market go down, what frightens the Jews? What takes the kick from the chicken, the pork from the beans? German submarines! Listen, listen Can’t you hear the sound of never missin'? Torpedoes, torpedoes Hitting at day, and hitting at night Who sinks the trawler, the tanker, the ship full of meat? Who sinks destroyers and cruisers, the pride of the fleet? It’s now the season, the reason, it’s plain what it means German submarines

i imagine a modern day version of this if we ever did have ww3 would be the CCP spamming social media with audio that sounds like someone with a slight chinese accent rapping over a trap beat about sinking US carriers and commercial container-ships with land-to-sea missiles or something

I once received a tape cassette for Christmas called ' Bach's Greatest Hits ' and this version of ' A Mighty Fortress ' was the penultimate track, and recall being absolutely transfixed by the beauty of this piece , it has taken a while to source it so thank you very much for enabling me to hear it again after so many years .

Why on earth is there no mention of Randy Newman and his two Oscar noms for score and title song? Why this crap can Ed music and not the original music. Also, the location coordinator was Reggie Life, not the guy interviewed here. Shame!
@corfan9917 күн бұрын
Total agreement with you on the omission of any comments about Randy Newman and his amazing soundtrack. One of my all time favorite soundtracks, totally captured the feel, spirit of the era. The theme track (and it's title version ONE MORE HOUR) is beautiful. I was disappointed that he didn't win the Oscar for this film, that Vangelis' CHARIOTS OF FIRE, although the theme is now 'iconic', to me, seems anachronistic, too modern, for the time period of the film, the 1920s.
