Lb test? Rod? For the slammer
@cavpowerfishing92143 жыл бұрын
Hey mate, I have around 500m of 80lb power pro on it with 40m of 200lb wind on. The rod is a 15-24kg shimano revolution travel rod, but I have been in search of something heavier and shorter for the bigger sharks as it does struggle with 2.5m plus.

@@cavpowerfishing9214 thank you for the information...awesome video man... Yeah I have a carnage 2 jigging ....but I don't think it's gonna be good on the beach
@cavpowerfishing92143 жыл бұрын
@@christophervela5447 The 80-200lb version? just would have to use a higher rod holder to sit the line above the breakers and yak the baits out. The shorter the rod the better when it comes to fighting sharks, puts more pressure on the shark and less on you.

Hey mate im from newy and looking at getting into flicking plastics, what rod and reel would you suggest and and spots to hit? Not after your secret hotspots lol
@cavpowerfishing92143 жыл бұрын
I like to go light 1-3kg rod and 1000 reel, but a good starting combo would be just 2-4kg rod and 2500 reel something like a shimano sienna combo with 6-8lb braid. Queens wharf brewery, Ash island, Stockton flats near the bridge these all produce on good days. 👍

Hey mate loved your videos I’m From around Newcastle n I’d like to know what set up n line u use and your favourite lures for flattys
@cavpowerfishing92143 жыл бұрын
Thanks mate appreciate it! For flathead and in this vid, I like to go light tbh. I’m using a NS black hole bream rod 1-3kg and a Okuma ceymar 1000 reel with 6lb braid. Then I run about two rod lengths of 6-8lb fluorocarbon leader but depending on structure and if the flathead are gulping the plastics down I might up that to 14lb Fluro. Favourite plastics are also pretty small 2.5inch zman grubs or Samaki boom bait grubs 2.5 and 4inch with 1/12th up to 1/6th jighead depending on depth/current. I’ll usually try to match my lure colour to the water. E.g dirtier the water dirtier/darker and clear water I’ll go whites and clear sparkle types. Then nice slow crawl retrieve with twitches but trying to keep it on bottom as much as possible. Three colours that never let me down are motor oil, olive sparkle and pumpkin. Thanks for watching!

Yeah with the flood lights on them they look a lot lighter than they are and once they seem to get over that 2m mark they seem a lot darker. But I have often wondered with a lot of these juveniles if some are possibly dusky’s or even silkies mixed in. What do you think?
