My grandmother, who was a fiber artist & painter, lived in Franklin, NC. I used to spend my summers there in the 70's & 80's. Although she had never attended Black Mountain College herself (she never actually even graduated from high school), the instructor who had gotten her into plein air painting (she loved to paint the landscapes around her home) had gone to Black Mountain College & I think had even taught there. She was friends with many of the Black Mountain alum. I loved spending summers there - they were all so encouraging of my own creative interests (something I didn't get at home).

A truly wonderful and thought provoking program. I cried thru most of it. I'm so impressed with all the artists and their work. It's truly impressive. I loved the paperdoll episode. What an creative way to honor their service to our country. God bless them all for without their service to our country who knows where we would be. Thank you all for your service.

The wooden statues remind me of pieces i have from an indigenous tribe in South America who live in open air hunt on stilts in the water. They make hand carved local animals essential to their culture from this very soft light wood. Pretty cool to see they make similar art in Mexico. 😍

Les tissus sont magnifiques, mais pourquoi autant de racisme ? Plus exactement pourquoi encore séparer les gens par leur couleur ou leur genre ?

The people who spread nonsense like the cultural appropriation should be forced to watch this beautifully made documentary, to open their eyes to the facts they fail to see. Art unites people and sharing ideas for clothing, hair styles, jewellery and art techniques makes people proud that others want to be seen wearing someone else's national costume and adapt some bits to their daywear even. I wonder how to go about this program being shown in the UK's high schools? Tolerance and embracing other cultures is the only way to find peace and happiness. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for filling my mind with endless ideas and joy, just from watching others being happy. Their work stems from the love for the Mother Earth and other human beings. 🙇🙇♀️🙇♂️❤

not sure why we have to hear a jazz ensemble trying to improvise over the film. And why, every time a Black person appears, do we have to listen to Neo-Spirituals? The constant focus on identity in these programs is so forced that it feels inauthentic.

We want more shows like this!!! It is awesome because these are the sold pieces not the ones for sale at the gallery. You should do more featuring only women artists, because it is true, they are underrepresented. I really loved the medicine cabinet. Are those little smiley face tampons?
