I love your little rant about the English language. I definitely agree that this language is quite silly . I think as another immigrant who came to America at a young age, it's really easy to forget that my native language is actually not English, either. Although with how little practice I've gotten with it recently, maybe I should call it my "original" or "forgotten" language 🐒. Your video is inspiring me to pick up some books in my native language as well, but I might have to start with picture books for toddlers 🔰

There is a little bit of that in Spanish as well, but very little in Swedish, only very old people would still use the pronoun for You, which is basically saying you in plural instead of you singular, even to one person. Like You senior 😂 Other than that, I would say most people talk a bit more respectfully to older or more senior people, but in every day life there is none of that. We call our teachers and bosses by first name and no formal pronouns. I also agree about the pronunciations of English words, it very confusing as you’re learning it! And never consistent. Not only do different spellings sound the same, but same spelling sounds different too, like ou in through, though, thought. I personally don't rate books because I would definitely overthink it 😅 But as you say, it's a very personal thing so you rate them as you wish. I don't think there is anything wrong with your system and it's pretty amazing that you're able to pick exclusively books that you really enjoy! Honestly, good for you - I feel I'm on the opposite of the spectrum, being way too critical, so I almost never find "5 stars worthy books". the rating system is so frustrating sometimes 😩 everyone's way of rating books is so different and catered to the individual and how someone rates the books they read shouldn't be judged by others at all in my opinion. My way of rating changes often. Sometimes I'm super picky, other times I'm very easy going but I've honestly been debating starting to just give a range instead of a specific number since my thoughts on books also change often after completing them! And because I feel like what people say about a book gives so much more than a number! I can't wait to get to Seven Year Slip! I'm hoping I love the writing in A Novel Love Story and if I do, I know I'll want to get into SYS ASAP even though I shouldn't since I have so many books on my fall TBR now 😂 I am counting down the days until the new Abby Jimenez book!! I want to read her other trilogy before it comes out so I can catch up on her books!

Also 100% agree on the seven year slip in terms of the time travel aspect, that kimd of magical realism can make or break a book for me if it isnt done right and it just takes me out of the stiry if it makes no sense!! Thats why I think you will really like Sarah Ready and her books (especially Switched!!) because they all involve some kind of outlandish impossible moment with a time gap (first book), switching bodies (second book), and time gap + meeting in dreams (third book) but in a way that makes sense!?? like her writing easily convinces you like "oh yeah i can see that happening, whats next?" its so good!!! There's no one size fits all rubric in my opinion and it totally makes sense that so many of your books are rated highly, especially as a mood reader. I've never really been a fan of time travel either so I didn't think I would like Seven Year Slip. Your review sounds very interesting though!
