If I have this correct. First you marble the sheet protector. Then you peel it off of them. Then you trim the marbling and apply to the rod as in the video. Do I have it?
@thedecorativestudioАй бұрын
@rickfike8466 yes! Let it dry for 2-3 days and slowly peel it. It's very sticky so make sure you don't let it stick to itself. I'll add another video of the process I did awhile back

@@thedecorativestudio been building for a couple years now and want to expand my techniques. Have stayed away from the deco wraps until I saw your video showing how little they weigh. So I bought Billy’s book and thats not going to do it for me. Too hard to decipher #1 and frankly not what I choose to wrap. I have seen your video classes and that seems more where I need to go. I have done simple chevrons, dragon scale, fade wraps, olive branches and tigers. Lately been playing with marbling. I wonder if I should skip the basic class you offer and move into the wraps I find more interesting. What are your thoughts? I’ve been after Joe Haywood at HFF to get you to do a live class here in Michigan. He says he’s tried but your calendars never seem to match up. I hope some day it works out.
@thedecorativestudioАй бұрын
@rickfike8466 we are working on for sure. The basics is explaining all the background info to the wraps like terms, directions, open vs closed wraps etc. It's a good place to start but it's entirely up to you. People have jumped and taken a class that interested them and they have succeeded. Obviously if you have questions, I'm happy to help

Hi Wes and Mary, I was once again bummed out that I had to watch a pre recorded episode instead of an unedited live version of you two interacting with one another. (Hilarious!!). I was doing a flag wrap for my son in laws USMC rod this week( yes, I’m still piddling with it as I get time and feel creative.) and I “cheated the close” in a different way. When I was laying it out I didn’t want the flag misshaped (elongated) at the tip end, so I just used my midwrap measurement for the whole spacing. Well, as I’m sure you know things got tight on the skinny end as I was nearing the close. No sweat, I was using Madeira black and knew it would not be seen, so I just let the black overlap some until I closed the butt end. I look forward to meeting you two in October at Mudhole. I finally got around to booking a hotel last week.

This is a bit confusing. I hate bring critical, especially when I wouldn't do it myself. This is titled "Part 7", I thought it was following from "as the Rod turns" and I had somehow missed part 6. In the description it says "part 1 of 7 of me reading the synopsis of my weekend with Mark Crouse". The next one, that I have just watched, describes as "part 2 of 6 of learning from Mark Crouse". I'm sure it's all going to pan out, but the numbering is all a bit baffling. It is very interesting, so I will keep watching.
