I've loved this piece - and the entire soundtrack to "The Draughtsman's Contract" - ever since I first saw the film in 1983. Nyman is quite a genius indeed - this and other works are so remarkably distinctive and energising. Certainly, energy is what his players need: he does rather demand much of them - and they never fail to deliver! 😎

She pulled it off like a champ, but looks like she’s struggling here for whatever reason. Not familiar with this dancer, so possible it could be normal for her, but her shoes look too soft or it seems like she’s struggling to get solidly over on her box due to an injury. Bravo for a still wonderful performance, a true professional.

The soprano's singing is decent but that of her male counterpart as he painfully draws out his singing to the point where the orchestra seems forced to slow down to accomodate his needless drawl. Not the best duet I've heard tbh ...

Wonderful staging but has nothing to do with Aida. Also the usual misconception that slaves built Egyptian monuments

The opera house was damaged in the war , and could have been restored - they tore down the auditorium , and built that ugly concrete box that looks like a cheap shopping center . I was there a few years ago - some of the building looks like a run-down parking garage , and the streets are littered with trash.....Mr. Geitel needs new glasses ....

Wow, what a well crafted and carefully weighted performance of this symphony. How clear, clean, with enough force, homogenising with Tchaikovsky's other symphonies. What a stately tempo. How often this symphony is rushed. How much longer these early symphonies were compared to the later ones or the re-redacted earlier ones. This symphony is by most standards and by Tchaikovsky's own his best. He did write to to his brother Modest in 1893 stating how he thought his just written sixth (ii) was the finest thing he had written. However there are other accounts that this one held first or at least second place. Please note there is a sketch for an earlier sixth symphony which became a single movement piano concert no.3. This has been re-constructed and is called the Seventh Symphony. This first symphony has everything you expect from a Tchaikovsky symphony, joy, tears, human suffering, the marking of time, the heavens, the mountains, the fields, the poor, the rich, everything. Hats off to this conductor, what a masterful and thoughtful rendition by Gospodin Fedosyev.

Frivolous Angela playing herself, as always. You can practically hear her thinking, Don't I look pretty in this? No depth at all. Boring.
