Hair dryer or heat gun can soften up the hot melt glue for easier removal w/o possibly tearing out the plywood.

Nice demo of improvising. I like DIY using any inspiration that comes your way. Comment, you should ways step to the side when turning a piece that is attached with tape or hot glue…. I hope you are wearing a face shield.

Why don`t you cut the hole on your first side then use the drill to center the pendent on the other side.
@PiedraDesigns7 ай бұрын
Certainly could use the drill to line up for the second side, I just wasn't worried about it being 100% perfectly aligned. Thanks for watching!

@@PiedraDesigns I’ve been a carpenter for over 40 years. Very little of what I know did I invent. We take what we are shown and apply it the best way we can figure out. That is what an artisan is. Happy Turning

I love the rugged aspect of this bowl, holes and all, just beautiful. We have lost a lot of pinyon pines on our land in Northern Arizona the past few years and I'm about to get my first lathe so I'm sure I will be giving the pinyon pine a try. Thanks for sharing your process.

Great job. This is a very nice submission to the #texture week. There is turquoise embellishing wax that might have given more of what you were looking for with the paint. No matter, I really like what you’ve come up with here. Well done!

Well done, Wes. While I like the look, if you want a more even look, try painting with white paint before using iridescent paint. That should help even out the 'color'.
@PiedraDesigns Жыл бұрын
Thank you! As for the iridescent paint, I was under the impression (from other people I watch) that a dark color under the iridescent will give a more vibrant 'color', while a light background will give a more muted effect. I thought the 'burned' walnut from the grinder wheel would be sufficient for the dark 'background'. Maybe I'm just putting the iridescent paint too thin? More practice needed for sure.
@OrganizeCreateDecorate Жыл бұрын
@@PiedraDesigns It could be that it's different on wood than on paper in which I've used it. Paper is flat, making it less likely for the iridescence to puddle. I'd recommend playing around with it a bit on scrap wood to learn the best way to apply it. Possibly filling in the cuts so there's a more level area to lay down the iridescence. Either way, it's a beautiful bowl.

I like how you pointed out what could of been done differently. First video of yours, Hoping you do a take 2 so we can see your progress. =D I am absolutely obsessed with wood turning, smithing, and hydraulic crushing videos. love unfinished wood so much. Honestly its not that pink on camera, just where the light focus in the center is. You can see the red color you where going for off the sides and I bet its amazing in person. I wish you would of stuck some flower in at the end though =D flowers make everything better
