anyone know of maybe a knob on the desktop version that controls the mod wheel?... i feel like im missing something. the options are there, its just the mod wheels are not..
@MichaelRohaly8 ай бұрын
I don't have a desktop, so I dunno if NRPNs would work, but CCs should. There's also an expression pedal in. I have a cheap M-Audio pedal that works fine. You can also use a macro to get there.

what is this editor were looking at?
@MichaelRohaly Жыл бұрын
This is a program called Pure Data. The sequencer you're looking at is something I wrote in Pure Data, and there's a link to it in one of my videos if you want it but making it run is apparently not trivial. Pure Data can do much more interesting things including synthesis of all types. It's like Max.
@popcycles Жыл бұрын
@@MichaelRohaly ah yes, I vaguely remember the likes of this software, pure data and max. Okay, thank you.

I think the first thing I would do AFTER this is hit the mixer section and turn the oscillator 1 volume down. If you start doing kooky things clipping can happen and that's nicer to take care of sooner rather than later.

I google searched if anyone was using the Hydrasynth to process external audio, and this video does NOT disappoint! Those vocal like sounds would sound frigging insane on some rhythmic low chugging riffs, perhaps with some of the non effected guitar sound mixed in for some girth/intact bottom end . I can imagine using this feature to process all sorts of things for making samples etc

Yeah, the FM bit is an eccentric thing to do, but you can get foot-controllable wah wah from the filters and the low-fi effect, which is a big win.

No, it's all pretty much about BPM timing and delays. If you're in the ASM Hydrasynth FB group the patch is there and it's called Strum and you can see how cheap the trickery is. The LFOs and Envelopes all make a nice little display peaking one after the other. Great design.

@@MichaelRohaly The album in question actually got made against the wishes of the label and the fans. Thank goodness it got made ! Btw after you mentioned the keystep being a bit spongy I settled on the Komplete s61. Very happy, although the hydrasynth's keybed is virtually identical so considering poly aftertouch and endless encoders which can be macro assigned to midi the hydra still is a must own - except it's only 49 keys.

@@malayatom2 I'm glad you have a good controller! That looks like it'll do a bunch of good stuff. I don't think I have a decent one for bells and whistles, just things that'll play on a channel.

@@MichaelRohaly I had to forgo cv outs but the controller does open up a lot of possibilities using native software. Just looking for the easiest route to make music. And it has lights ! One day going to dissect some hydrasynth patches - I now have a handle on synthesis, although the mutators are just a little intimidating! Kinda wish Ashtun would make a graphical interface, or I may look into what you were doing. I have tried some generative ideas like you but didn't get anywhere. Have you seen Obscurium by Sugarbytes? I would imagine you could get some sounds from it with your data program.

@@malayatom2 I think if I'm gonna make something generative with a computer it might be with Vuo next, which has nice graphical interaction options.
