Paul has a great voice, whatever people say I like him. People are harsh on his era, have a dig and you'll find some great tunes. (Aware this is not one of them). Sure, the style changed but that is the case with any change in personnel within a band. I think Stranglers purists won't like the 90's stuff which I understand. But I'd encourage checking out albums like About Time and In The Night with an open mind. Good underrated songs are there :)

The change of the instrumentalist is almost imperceptible. Changing the singer is a huge risk and challenge. They've won these because they keep composing stunning music.

Thanks for this.I've been trying to track down the B-side of this 7" - 'Nicholas Craig And Max' which marks the first appearance of Planer's Nicholas Craig character. Is there any chance you would be able to post it (if you can find a record player)? Cheers.

That concert was held in the prison chapel! In 2012 I also played a few times in there!! And regularly played Johnny Cash songs over the PA system(with permission) loudly, much to the delight and annoyance of two hundred prisoners. A profound experience to say the least!?,😃

Why should I listen to new music when there is so much to discover? I wonder if JJ has a cockney accent when he sings in french?
@leezeppelin482 жыл бұрын
On KZbin I watched an old interview he did on French TV and he had a very English accent, not Cockney though!😄. I think he was just a little bit rusty at the time, later on he sounds a lot more French and on this song, if I didn't know it was JJ, I can't tell it's someone who grew up in Lahndan. As it goes I just can't hide my English accent no matter how I try , an I'm fkin Welsh an' all!
