As a quiet Jazz drummer I find even those 7A Hickory sticks too big and heavy. I use thinner sticks made of lightweight maple and this lowers my volume to match a baby grand piano or acoustic double bass.

The dust will be out of that chair for sure.

I am a guitarist and using a metronome has made my guitar practice so much more efficient and beneficial. I am learning drums and can't wait to start applying these techniques to drum practice!

Have just subscribed, have watched a couple of your videos and have really enjoyed them in the respect of effectively, 'your life on the road' .... great stuff. First of all, please give my regards to Steve, the guitarist, an absolute top guy - haven't seen him and mutual friends for a couple of years at our watering hole Indian restaurant ... I must put that right soon. I would love to see you really develop these videos but you're going to need an assistant to help you. It's lovely seeing what you are all about - fascinating to be fair .... but I would also like to see more of the other members and some video taken from the viewpoint of the audience and perhaps side of the stage. I really want to hear the band. It's about getting to know the band ..... you could really promote same with exquisite videos to the obvious benefit of all of you - that, in my opinion, would be sublime buddy.

I started playing the drums several months ago. I was mostly practicing beats and some fills but not with a metronome. I decided to try playing a song after days ago. I could play just about everything but my timing was terrible. If I could go back in time I'd be using a metronome right away

Hey Alex: what kind of material is that you're using to muffle the snare? Never thought of doing that. It really drops the volume down on the snare doesn't it? Not really possible to play ghost notes with that on there but maybe more is gained (through less volume) than is gained through dynamics like ghost notes. Anyways, nice playing. What material is that?

Only one brand Vic firth weight is a personal choice yes light sticks for kids but for adults it doesn't matter 7a or 5a I like 7a not just because they are lighter but about a quarter of an inch shorter so I can play more from the back of the hands
