I went back to this older video after skipping ahead to 2 current ones and it took me a minute to figure out why the TV thing wasn't black anymore. Looks like the other piece of furniture is painted also, the one at the stairs. I guess I need to go back to the Christmas ones and watch!!! ( I stopped after the Fall decor.) I was saving them for November. Trying to watch in order but I sometimes skip ahead. I appreciate you sharing your journey. I am tired and unmotivated and suspect it's these darn bioidentical hormones I have been taking. Not sure but I'm trying to move forward.

Yep, I painted the TV stand, the credenza, and the little dresser in the living room. It all started because the cat had ruined the checked chairs and the rugs. She just shredded them. Then the changes just rolled around. It became too beige for me and last year, I got the new colorful rugs and wallpapered the one wall in the family room (and got some shelves) and finally feel settled. Oh - and I finally got some drapes. It feels relieving to have color in the room again. I take bio-identical hormones too. Could they have given you the wrong amounts?

If people struggle to say something kind about themselves, there is probably some shame there to process. The shame is telling them they are lazy, but that thought/self judgement doesn’t motivate action. Shame is a shutdown emotion, it immobilises us. Telling ourselves we are lazy when we want movement is counter productive and makes us tired so we can remain shutdown. It becomes a self fulfilling prophecy.

Hello lovely lady I have just come across your video for the first time and you have no idea how much you have helped me. I am 73 I have just been diagnosed with polymyelgia Rheumatica and Rheumatoid Arthritis. For the last few months I wake up distraught worrying how I am going to clean the house, like you I can do 15mins then I’m exhausted and start dripping with perspiration. I have to lie down and rest for at least an hour then I can repeat! I am in the middle of a medical crisis state at the moment so I am extremely tired. I want to get a cleaner in to give a thorough clean once a month but my husband is dead against it! You have helped me immensely just by advising to keep cleaning stuff in each room and also the basket idea. I can’t wait to catch up with all your videos. I can’t live like this any more I really am ashamed. X

Oh - please don’t feel ashamed! You are going through something real and it’s going to take some time to adjust. You kind of have to lose the memory of what you were before and to accept your new reality. Then it will be easier for you to begin looking for easy wins and to practice gratitude for small things. We’re not used to doing that. I wish your husband would allow the monthly house cleaning! I’m glad to hear that the video encouraged you. I’m glad you’re here!

I’ve got a lot on my plate, including a lot of exposure to extremely high heat and emotional exhaustion right now. Just completely wrung out. I moved the Dawn power wash spray out of its basket under the sink and right where I could grab it easily if I just opened the right hand base cabinet door to grab it. I just don’t wanna look at it on my counter all the time when I only need it for certain things, Cutting the effort 50% to grab it is helpful. The little things help. Doing the basics of keeping the laundry & kitchen moving forward, between trips to the medical center and naps. The time spent driving in my car without AC drains energy faster than just about anything. More than hours and hours in hospital waiting rooms.

Great tips, even for us who are just older and tired of cleaning. When my mom got older, she kept a chair in the laundry room and sat to fold warm clothes as she emptied the dryer.,one less step. This was before cell phones and ipads, so today I’d do that while catching up on youtube videos, a book on tape or music. PS: I adore that wall color! Fantastic choice. EDIT: I try to declutter as much as I can. Less to dust, wipe down, keep track of in the laundry stage. It may only be a small box or bag every few weeks but it adds up. It’s not pretty, but I often keep a box in my main traffic pattern so it reminds me to fill it. 😉

This is how I roll: After every shower the tiles and floor are wiped down with a very thick micro cloth for cars. After almost 5 years the shower looks brand new. *Toilet:* no one uses the toilet without cleaning it with a mixture of white vinegar and rose essential oil - which is in a spray bottle on the floor beside the toilet. The toilet seat is sprayed after use. *Floors:* No one wears shoes in our home. Only socks, slippers or bare feet. In that way, floor mopping is down to a minimum. I don't dust, but I vacuum, because I'm very allergic to dust. No food or drinks in the bedrooms upstairs. Yes, baskets where any clutter naturally collect.

Great video! First ... I'd like to lovingly caution you about the bathroom (or any) chemicals... especially what your bare feet are exposed to (the cleaners in your shower). These chemicals can cause all sorts of health problems. Please consider either switching to less-toxic cleaners, or try to use a water and vinegar mixture. That can't be used on some surfaces - like marble - but it's great for most. I use an equal parts water and white vinegar spray for pretty much EVERYTHING in my home. For the toilet - I just dump straight vinegar in since there's already water in it. For scrubbing I use baking soda or Bon Ami from the health food store. That's it. Not only is it much safer and healthier for everyone, but it's also super cheap. Sitting down when doing certain things was so difficult for me to incorporate... and I still really struggle to remember at times. It certainly helps! And I LOVE my robot vacuum. I've had it for 2 full years now and wonder why I didn't get one sooner. It "mops" too, but it leaves streaks. I'll have to check in to the steam mop... I heard they might cause warping in laminate flooring, but you use yours on laminate flooring and all seems fine, right?? I'll do more research. It's been about 15 years since I've looked into it, and the technology has probably really improved! Blessings, Joanne in SW MO
@TowardsASimpleLife
@TowardsASimpleLife 4 күн бұрын
I’d heard that about steam mops too, but I was desperate. What I do is put it on the lowest setting and then keep it moving. I never set it down in one place when I am moving furniture etc. around. If I have to put it down, I’m find a different surface. (Although you can turn it off, which shuts off the steam, so you could do that instead.) It stands up on its own very well. After using it a few times, I realized that it actually puts very little water on the floor and I think moping was worse - a lot more water. It has been one of my best purchases. I use the high setting on the tile in my kitchen. Maybe if you had extremely thin, cheap laminate you could potentially run into problems - especially if you let it sit in one place, but even then, maybe not if you do what I do. There so little water and it dries extremely fast. Just use the lowest setting. I couldn’t vouch for a different brand, because I don’t know how they work. A tip: I bought a ton of extra pads and I’ve been glad. It cleans so well that you need to change them often. You’ll clean them in the washer and dryer. You can tell when it’s time to change them because you’ll start to smell something weird. It’s all the dirt. Putting a new pad on resolves that. You never use anything but water in it - no cleaning solutions or vinegar as they can damage the works and you’ll loose the warranty. But plain water works great because it’s the steam that cleans. Hope that helps!

I keep meaning to check more into this. I actually bought the magnesium but then I read that it can cause problems with certain types of high blood pressure medications because your blood pressure could go too low. But it is only one type of medication that can cause problems. I need to figure out if the type I take will work out okay. Fibro isn’t really muscles cramping. You may feel achy in that way, but it is a brain problem where your brain thinks something is happening but it’s not actually happening. I had a Fibro doctor that is a well-known researcher. He explained it to me but I can’t remember all of the details. I’m on an anti-seizure medication for that reason. (I don’t have seizures.) It’s supposed to help the brain communicate better. That’s why Tylenol or Ibuprofen won’t work for Fibro pain. Fibro is such a strange thing. I was actually doing pretty good with my Fibro until I got Covid (and Long Covid). That changed absolutely everything. It kind of turned my world upside down.

I use a bit of dawn dish soap water placed in flat containers , with a small floor lamp in the middle and turn it on at night then clean up in morning , takes awhile but it will catch and drown them all. Careful with your cats by placing them in room that's not being treated. Takes about a month and is a bit of work but I've completely eliminated this way. It's my go to when nothing else is working and it's cheap. The soap sticks to them so they can't jump back out of the water and they drown. I try to fit four or five containers around the lamp. Good luck.

I have heard of her, but haven’t really investigated it much. I have seen Diane’s videos pop up in my feed now and again. She seems nice.

@@TowardsASimpleLife thé flylady app is great and free to use with no annoying pop up ads. She’s all about using kitchen timers and breaking things down into small tasks throughout the day. I will often rotate through my day 15 minutes at a time. 15 minutes on my home business, 15 minutes housework and then I get to relax for 15 minutes (usually spent reading a novel haha). Amazing how much you can get done in those little chunks (even going at low energy snail pace like I do 😆). Thank you for all the great tips !

It is amazing how quickly you can get things done. Putting a timer on it is very eye opening!
