Wow all the boys at this meet came out aggressive, Willa didn't seem ready for that. She didn't give up though!

The boy was obviously physically and technically stronger. But this is the very age when girls can only count on victory in the fight against boys.

Yeah it was a good win. Unfortunately my daughter was the one who lost. She completely froze. Poor thing. But that’s why we are doing Super 32 in 7th grade. Hope to get over the nerves. But her opponent was very good! She ended up making it pretty far in the bracket

Boys are stronger than girls. And when the girl won against the boy, there was something unfair in the fight. Very often it is boy is beginner. Another often it is girl are older than a boy. They meybe about the same weight, but this is not the same. In young age are different psychology there, and a different body structure. And afterwards, girls starting use male hormones and other chemicals to become stronger. And a litle one, this is the er-n that embarresses of boys, and ofcourse, girls' br-ts. Maybe you know something else)

Newbies to wrestling for both. It's interesting to see how girls reach the start of puberty 2-3 years faster than boys. Had she been experienced, she would have used her stronger hips and legs. It would, perhaps, been a different outcome. The boy looked like her younger brother.

NIce win! That was the laziest ref I have seen in a while (2:28 - 2:45) -- didn't put his head to the mat to check for a pin! LOL So what is this "Battle for the Shield" is it a girl's event? If so why did you wrestle a boy in one of the matches??

Battle for the Shield was part of the tournament series that leads up to state. Cote wrestled the Novice bracket for both girls and boys during this tournament. She also wrestled a second weight class for the girls because the weight class above her only had one girl in and that girl’s coach requested Cote wrestler that girl so she could have some more experience.

@@alexabkelly I guess Cote she is member of your team? But obviously you are a wrestler too? Is anyone filming your matches? The "Shield" is a interesting concept and sounds like fun twist. However, I guess I don't understand why a state like FL that has a fully developed girl's HS wrestling program still allows girls to compete in boy's events?

Good match and nice win for you. I'm wondering what are the ages of the two wrestlers? Looking at the image (2:13 - 2:16) I notice little musculature development on that boy -- for a wrestler at least? Obviously he's not into lifting weights? Maybe he is just young (pre-pubescent)?

In this video, she is 11. I can’t speak to the age of the boy but he would be somewhere in that range as well. They were in the Novice bracket.

Close match but hard to determine the score as you could not see the refs hands during critical times?

The score ended up being 9-11 with the girl winning at the end with a takedown and pin.

The "tuff" boy pretty much dominated the "tuff" girl in this match but I think both of them were more used to folkstyle wrestling? The scoreboard said the final score was 10 - 0 but besides the take-downs didn't he also get 1 point for pushing her out of bounds? Anyway interesting to watch and great camera work.

I think the girl was tough but that boy was certainly not what I would call "tough". Kind of apathetic or uninterested is a better description? He initiated no offensive actions but was content just to hang on? He looks pretty young -- is he a newbie or what is his problem?

Yeah so this is a WarZone series. He challenged her to the match. I suspect, due to her name, he was expecting a boy. He was rather “unsportsmanlike” after the match. I believe he is actually a year or two older than her. She was about to turn 12 in this match.

Nice videography thanks for posting! Interesting clips of the match -- so the final score was 5 - 1? What weight class is this -- 106? One thing though, I'm really, doubtful that the boy in this match would be called a "tough guy"? To he looks below average in strength for a boy (I assume he is HS freshman) and he is at best average in terms of his wrestling skills? Is the Niceville, Florida or some other state?

Because this is a WarZone series, they are Madison bracketed. She weighs 112. He had to be within 10 lbs higher or lower of her for the match to be made. The series is called Tough Guy Tough Girl 😉 And yes, it’s in FL

I like it when female refs preside over a coed match and watching the young woman raising the arm of the girl who defeated her male opponent. Females are ruling the 21st century

Not to be mean but as a suggestion when you sprawl on top of him rotate around his body and go for the takedown that will set you up with the opportunity to pin him.
