Well, it depends highly on your FW and the type of scanner you have. Currently, ReCap 2025 once again can open the scans without touching FARO software. Regardless of model. Even the Core/Premium/Max scans can be raw imported and used in ReCap again... Just remember, if using any of the external PanoCam options on the scanner, then you HAVE to use SCENE to apply the color. Everything will otherwise be in greyscale...

I did four córner localización and when I stand on each point none of the point gives me the elevation that I gave ?? Why . And the BM that surveyor gave me.. I’ll stand on top of it and it will not measure that given elevation!!! Am kind of lost

@@956mendez86 Strange. Localization will read your 3D posiiton and it should read the elevation too, obviously. Unless you uncheck "use Vertical" when localizing!

So, Hiper SRs do not have internal radios. They only have the "LongLink" Bluetooth radios. Hence "Modem managing" will not do anything. As there is no setup needed for the "LongLink". So, there is no issue with yours! It just does not exist!

@@Ahmedali_-qd9eg Either one can be a base or rover. When you connect to one as the base it becomes the base, the other will become a rover because you'll connect to it as to a rover. You make the distinction by making the change during connection (base or rover).

There is no right answer to this. Essentially this depends on some legal limitations (i.e. the FCC in the USA) and ultimately the best combination is the one that works for you! Trial and error...

And I guess the first question should be can If take pictures on a point using a Topcon tablet with magnet software can I export those into a file that can be opened with Carlson? If so, what is the file type and how do I export (meaning what type of data and file type do I choose from the drop down list on the tablet when exporting)?

Pictures/photos are usually not seen as CAD items that get linked together easily. You can do this using ESRI software and shape files. Going into Calrson will be a question for Carlson. See if they allow for something like this. If you ask the question, ask them what file format is preferred. Then look for the file format on MAGNET to see if you find it to export it to...

I have field crews sitting on a point and while on that point snapping a photo to attach to that specific point. Is the only way to export this doing the copy and paste you demonstrated in this video? Normally we select "points" in the data field and ".txt" in the format field and then export the file but obviously that doesn't contain the photos they took. What file type and what extension do I choose to export on to my thumb drive so that I an open this on my desktop using CAD software (specifically Carlson)? Thanks for any help you can offer!!

Photos can be exported with certain file formats. The ones I have used are MFJZIP to get imported straight into MAGNET Tools (desktop processing software) and then SHP when using ESRI for GIS purposes.

@@dan__________________ Yes you can. Even though it is not best practice as you'll have to reprocess everything collected prior to the new point added. Typically do localization first, reach a point where you're happy with it and only then start your actual data collection or layout work.

@@Surveyexpert1 Hi, I only have access to firmware through the manufacturer's website and archives. So, check on the Sokkia website. By the way. GRX2 receivers do suffer from loss of radio range. And a firmware update unfortunately does rarely do anything. It's more a worn radio. Only way to fix I've seen is repair or replacement. Good luck!

recently, I began to pay attention to the fact that my scans began to combine worse - with an average error. 2-4 mm. I started looking for calibration information (I thought it was only possible in a specialised service) and found out that my premium S70 has built-in compensation. Now I'm thinking how can I do this with the highest quality - what is the required area of the room? I think if you put up labels and put 145mm magnetic spheres around, you get a better calibration. My tests and scan studies have shown that the scans now have an error of 6mm at a distance of 25m. I discovered this when I set the quality to 1/4+4X and cut out the seam in the removal on the floor. I read this method on the forum. I also heard that the error should be no more than 2mm at a distance of 25m. Is it true? I need to record videos too, my experience has already started to increase. The Premium series scanners have a +/- 1mm distance accuracy. But angular accuracy increases over distance by about 0.1mm/meter. So, at ~25m (25 x 0.1mm) you would possibly be in the 2.5mm accuracy. This does not mean you ARE positively that far off; it just means you COULD be. That is within the physics of the laser and angular encoder hardware. On-Site Compensation checks for angular drift and can reduce angular issues on the scanners. As the routine uses a predefined algorithm, I am unaware of being able to fix errors better or worse with additional objects (like spheres). That said, the best compensations are in rooms without moving objects (people) and without reflective surfaces (glass/mirror/chrome/etc.) Good luck!

Sorry, don't understand the question. Only vectors of static data from two receivers running at the same time can be processed. No common time will result in no processing (as no vector would have existed).

@@amirulhakim7781 I don't believe there is a "must do" workflow here. I typically enable/disable baselines that are too long, between control points that are known, and observe the results get better or worse. Once I like the results and the geometry is acceptable, I stop and finish the project.

Works on most scanners since 2017 (with a different IP address it worked on pre-2017 scanners too). So, give it a try as per the video! The video shows no need for an app...

Sounds like a question to FARO Support. But if you can connect your phone/computer to the S series via WiFi (if the WiFi is ON, that is) you could use that as a screen to navigate to "Manage/Service/Factory Reset". If you cannot, then FARO Support is your best bet! Good luck!

This is a mechanical problem. Try backing out the screw with pliers, screwdriver, wedging something in to make the screw regain traction. Good luck!

Excellent video Lukas! How about the non-rigid transformation? Does it recalculate the trajectory and adjust to conform the scan data to the control? Does that also take 30 mins for a 5 minute capture?

Pretty much! It has to re-run the SLAM, so it takes a while. But does re-balance and get it much tighter. It is pretty sweet!

Easy, MAGNET Field on a Windows 10/11 device (tablet) or Windows Mobile (pre-2016 devices) device. Hiper SR network RTK connected. Then you can knock out thousands of points a day...

Sorry. Applying the Panocam images is a FARO SCENE process. And is not supported through SCENE LT. You will need a full SCENE license for it to export with bubble view images into ReCap!

DiCarlo love you channel. I have a quick question. I have a HiperV. I have a license for Pocket 3D and I have a demo version of Magnet Field. My question is when do I know to configure my rover to WGS84, NAD83(2011), NAD83 No Trans? I mostly use a cors network but I also have a hiper v base so I do t have the option of setting on a point and using a base rover setup. Thanks

Depends how your CORS network was set up. Sometimes it is one, sometimes the other. The best way is to check a public control point. And use the datum that matches the control point best. When using your own base & rover setup, the choice of datum matters not.

@@DiCarloTV that’s what i did. I have i binder with my cities control network. So i went to 2 monuments near my house. I first used NAD(96) because that’s what was used when collecting the data back when they did it and i missed the vertical by 4 feet. I then tried the (2011) and i was still getting a 4 foot bust. I switched to no trans and i was miss within a tenth on the vertical. So I’m going to check a bunch of other monuments to see how no trans works. Now lets say i want to do a project around my neighbor and do a survey of my road, curb sidewalk, etc. using the cors network. Should i then use the no trans when surveying since it worked so well with the monuments?

@@littlenel17 You just answered your question. Use the datum that matches your control! Easy! :) If you want to be 4 ft off from your control, use the other datum.

If I’m on a project and I want to go and set a control point, whether it’s a nail, x-cut or whatever is there a way instead of just taking a quick shot on it, can I set on the nail and do like a 3 minute static reading on it. I feel like with the 3 minute static reading it tends to help with accuracy instead of a 1 second topo shot? Thanks

@@littlenel17 Just change the number of readings for your measurement to 180 (from the default for 3 in Precise or 1 in Quick). That is 3 minutes. DONE :)

Since flash doesnt really use the inclinometer, are you worried about your registration accuracy?

Not really. As the data itself ties everything together. If I want accurate level I survey in some targets with a laser level (much more accurate than anything the scanner or even a total station can do). Otherwise I just scan one or two scans with a standard (non-Flash) profile and set this or the other as a "Reference scan". Works without issues!

What type of file is created/downloaded? When I use either of t these apps to download a static file from my GRX3, there is no file extension associated with the file, like there is with a Topcon file -.tp

A GRX3 natively stores a .TPS file. And if using FW 5.5+, you should be able to download WITHOUT TRU/SRU just by accessing the receiver as a USB device and copying & pasting said file/s.
