Where's my care at?

I have been a nurse for 50 + years starting in the early 70’s. As I advanced in my career things got worse! What irritates me is how long it took people to wake up and believe nurses of how long this has been a serious concern. I am almost ready to retire and all I can say is it is about time. Where is and was the accountability? I have observed management over the years turn a blind eye to these problems leaving it up to staff to deal with their injustices. They either stuck it out or quit to move onto another job. The world has gone mad. Taking this long to notice and or start to do anything about it is UNACCEPTABLE. Don’t need a big degree for this.

Here we are ,3 years later in April 2022 and the CDC is releasing even more guidelines that have distroyed pain management as we know it. These new guidelines suggest 50mme as not to go above when before it was 90 mme . Pain needs to be treated on an individual basis. The CDC deleted comments and has refused to listen to anyone speaking out about how these guidelines are continuing to distroy patients lives . The HHS is pushing a Bio psycho social model of health care where you listen to music or meditate your cancer or post op pain away . Of course they know it won't work but these people at Stanford and the Rummler foundation and of course Andrew Klodney will not care . They haven't cared . Because these people along with our government politicians will always have access to opiod analgesics and so will their families. Not however the American people. Now the 2022 guidelines for opiod perscribing address acute and surgical pain along with the continuing lies that opiods should be avoided at all costs because of the slim chance that a patient might become addicted. Is it better to let a fellow human suffer needlessly from untreated pain when we have a medication that has worked for thousands of years be withheld? It was never about perscription opiods written by doctors but Fentanyl andHeron yet the lie continues while the anti opiod hysteria continues and the addiction specialists are testifying in the government opiods trials. Klodney and his friends at PROP are making lots of money as government witnesses or opiod experts despite never treating a chronic pain patient or writing a single prescription for opiod analgesics. Noone is being spared from the opiod hysteria, not children or even your pets . The false narrative that opiods don't work continues as does the suffering. The hell with the drug addicts. They will always find something. Don't deny pain relief to anyone. Remember that pain relief is a human right.

Can we take a minute to examine the stock photo displayed around time stamp 6:08? It's ironic to me that it was selected for discussing inclusivity, civility and mutual respect when there is clear misogyny represented in this photo. Right off the bat, we have all of the men man-spreading, while the women are shown trying to reduce their their own personal space to accommodate them. The mid-aged white man is taking up so much space that it looks like he is trying to push the black girl to his left out of the picture. We can't even see her left shoulder and she looks uncomfortable to me. Also, why it is that only the men are wearing stethoscopes? This stock photo comes across as very tone deaf to the very issue the presentation is supposed to be addressing.

We should not be instructed and taught how to become social justice warriors. That is not a nurse. We are nurses. We are not here to identify party politics we are here to assist with hip surgeries and wound care and medication errors and not to be lectured on this racial stuff. This is so far from nursing. This whole concept of "Nurses are scientists", really concerns me. I am an ex-nurse, and one thing, besides nurse bullying, which is the real cause of the nursing shortage, that was consistent, was the assertive irresponsibility of nurses. I suffered huge consequences for naively assuming my RN manager and NP "team mate" intended to follow regulation. I've gone to nursing classes where the instructor started out with "This is what you say on the test because that is regulation, and this is what you do in real life...". And we spent the entire course practicing how not to follow regulation and consequently every nurse in the class went out into their various communities and facilities intent on not following regulation and so would be putting their patients at risk. My nursing career was constantly bringing me into contact with nurses who were abusive, aggressively irresponsible, unethical and uneducated. The idea that nurses might be trusted to be accountable, accurate and ethical in an actual scientific study should be met with extreme caution. Locally, nursing school applicants are only required to have grade 11 Chemistry and grade 12 Biology, and only a 70% in each. They can then be accepted into the RN program, and proceed to the NP program, after which they can insist on being called "Doctor" - still with only a grade 11 Chemistry and grade 12 Biology "Science" education. Meanwhile nursing PR is advertising "Nurses are scientists!". Beware.
